Hi everyone, i'm new here and i'm currently 26weeks pregnant. I'm delivering my baby thru c-sec at kkh.. but i have no idea which doctor will be recommended.. hope to get all of your comments :D thank you

Hi, perhaps you would like to share bit more details like why c-sec and isn't it your gynae should be doing the c-sec? or you haven't seen any gynae yet?

Hi mlr, i had seen private gynae for nearly 19weeks.. bt was advise by my family to go kkh instead as it will be much better... i had a referral letter from poly to kkh.... so is under subsidy.. after consideration i would prefer to go under one doctor care instead of different doctor each visit... i choose c sec is i heard that is a bit less painful comparing to normal delivery..

If it is under subsidy, I believe that you cannot actually choose the gynae.
KKH is a viable choice if you are expecting complications, etc.

Just for information, C-section is NOT less painful.
For normal delivery, once bb is out, pain goes away and recovery is much faster (if there is no complications).
If you opt for pain relief, then there should minimal labour pains and discomfort.
For C-sec, recovery is much much longer and also higher chance of complications. It is after all an operations where they cut open your abdomen and then cut open your womb to bring bb out.
For what I know, if under subsidy, you don't really have a choice to choose c-sec, unless gynae recommends it.

I delivered in KKH due to my age and deem as "high risk" pregnancy.
It was also an induced labour due to my high blood pressure issues.
I had opt for epidural since it was my first delivery and expecting longer labour.
I had epidural at 12.30pm when it was 5 cm dilated. by 6.30 I was fully dilated at 10cm, but bb very naughty didn't move into birth canal. It was until 8pm then bb was in birth canal and that's when epidural starting to wear off and it was actually perfect timing, becos I was able to time my pushing when I start to feel the strong contractions and bb was delivered within 40 mins.

All in all, there was no pain except for the last 30 mins or so. And I was able to sit up and breastfeed bb within an hour after I deliver. We were discharged 2 days later.

My BFF delivered via C-sec and she was not able to carry bb at all becos of the wound and pains of the operations for about 4 weeks. Her confinement was very uncomfortable becos of the pains, cannot move about freely. BB also suffer lor, becos mummy cannot carry for long time becos of pains. Also cannot do massage after birth becos of the operations.

She had opted for normal delivery for her 2nd and 3rd kids thereafter...

You can call up KKH to inquire about the various options for your case....

If you had taken a "package" with your current gynae, then also have to work out the best options.
Otherwise, it would be easier to continue the pre-natal care with KKH. But have to caution you that for KKH appointments, you have to wait and also you don't get that very personal service for the scans and such. The scans are not done by the gynae like in private gynae, its done by the specialists or technicians there. But you get the same people doing it irregardless of which class you opt to be in.

Hopes the above help you a bit....

Thank you for the advise mlr.. Will take note..

But just to ask is it still possible if I opt in for private ward instead of subsidy? Is it too late?

I still able to choose doctor right??

I am quite sure you can still go as private patient, and of course able to chose your gynae.
I would advise you to do it ASAP.
As there is a schedule for various tests to be done and would be better to do in KKH should you chose to go with the gynae there.

I had an emergency c-sect at kkh. Was meant to go natural but baby's heart stopped so had to take her out ASAP.

People alway say c-sect is really bad but I thought mine was ok. I felt ready to leave the hospital the very next day. I could climb stairs before the end of the week, surprisingly. Of course, everyone heals differently so don't take just my word for it...

My doc was Dr CC Khong at kkh. Nice guy, fast paced and don't talk much (just the way I like my health care professionals). I'd def see him again for my #2.

I always feel kkh is under gov and the services are soso, long waiting time .
Why people want to go kkh is because it is under gov,got subsidy, and it is a " baby hospital" with full equipment .
Regardless of which hospitals you give birth at initial, when the baby is in complication, the hospital will surely refer you to kkh.
Other than that, nothing great.if finance is not an issue, I will advise you to opt for private and choose your own gynae.

And for c section, I have also heard many people saying negative part of it till I personally experienced it .
I am able to walk on the 3rd day and my wound heal fast.no issue.
It's all depends on how and what you want to experience. Some may want to experience the feel of being a mother ( natural delivery),
so that's why they choose to wait for the baby to come out on it own.

Yes you have to do it soon if you want to change to private. I'm not sure whether have you choose your doctor already, otherwise I can recommend you one ~ Prof Han HC. He is my gynae in KKH. Although I gave birth to my daughter via natural birth but I can say he is very good in stitching, coz I don't really feel a thing after delivery and my wound heals very well and good.

Hi missyqiqi thanks for the advise but can I know prof Han is at which clinic?
