Charges at Mount Alvernia

Hi, just to share with u that Bills for everyone is almost different.. Depending on what type of labour u'll be going through (natural w & w/o epidural, assisted, C Sect etc..)
How many bedded u choose + (days of stay), fees for baby & baby doc, Fees for ur gynae (u gotta check abt it)..
I'll soon be admitting into Mount A for delivery, all I know was that I need to prepare a deposit fee of $1250-$1600 (cash) apon admission.. And if I'm not wrong the rest of the bill can be deduct from medisave, will only get to know the exact bill during the day of discharge.. Hopefully this msg will help u a little

thanks Yvonne. I've opted for a 2-bedder. here's wishing you a smooth delivery. I am due in Feb and I hoped I will be able to go through a normal delivery with epidural. cheerios...

hi, juz delivered in dec. i opted for double bed, natural with epidural. it cost abt 4k plus inclusive of bb charges. i need to fork out abt 2k in cash. hope it helps.

Thanks yasmine for the info and congrats to u on yr newborn. I presume the $4k plus includes doc's fees? May I ask who is yr gynae pls?

hihi,

like to ask anyone just delivered at mount A recently or last yr for the following charges:

1) 1 bedded Natural w epidural
2) 1 bedded c-section w epidural

Kindly advise! Thanks!

I delivered in Dec last yr. Induced labour w epidural which ended up as emergency csect with epidural. Stayed 5D4N. Bill was almost $9k, half by medisave, half cash. It included my gynae fee as well.

Here's my breakdown.

1N at 2-bedded, 3N at 1-bedded. Rm charges $1400
Delivery fees with epidural $1500
Misc (equipment usage, OT, medication etc) $1500
Gynae fees $3100
Anaesthetist $900 (2 different doctors - 1 during induce, another for c-sect)
Total $8800 - Medisave claimed $4400, balance $4400 cash

Baby's stay $1200
PD fees $350
Total $1550 - Medisave claimed $1300, balance $250 cash

Mine was induced labour that failed and ended up as emergency c-sect past midnight. That's why end up pay for 2 types of delivery and probably surcharge by doctors for the wee hours delivery??

I delivered in Feb 2012 at MAH. Normal assisted delivery (forceps) + epidural. 2N in a single room, inclusive of husband's bed + meals.

1. Baby's fees = $1003
Claim = $795
Cash payment = 208

2. Doctor's fees + Mt Alvernia charges = 5806
Claim = 3050
Cash payment = 2756

Hope it helps!

How about the experiences of the nurses in Mt A? Are they caring and responsible?
I still can't decide which hospital to go to yet.

Hi,

I delivered in Dec 2011. Water birth, 2N in a single room, inclusive of husband's bed + meals.

Hospital Charges (inclusive of 7% GST & $100 discount to Alvenia Ladies Card) is $2928.

Doctor charges (attendence & delivery fee) is $2140.

PD attendence fee : $535

Total charges is $5603.
Medisave deduction : $2100

Hi MKUSB,

If your hospital stay is within the package, then the max medisave claimable is as per what is stated. However, for example, if you or your baby stay an extra day, that extra charge for the new day will have additional medisave claimable.

my bill around 8k.

one day usage of labour ward, induced labour leading to emergency c sect. used 3 doses of epi, didnt work and ended up using GA. gynae and anaesthesist and PD fee included. i checked out one day early cos i felt fine. medisave used about 3k the rest in cash.

My bill was close to 6k. Induced labour with epidural which ended up emergency c-sect in Jan 2012.

Paid $2200 in cash and balance CPF. Includes hospital stay, baby's ward and doctors fees. Stay in a 2 bedder.

Did some asking around and I can tell you that fees varies a great deal even in the same hospital and ward. Coz your gynaes fees play a huge part.

I think mine is considered cheap as I was expecting at least 5k in cash.

Hey girls, what's water birth???

I heard that Mt A is undergoing Reno now. Is the noise and dust pollution acceptable?

Yeap, Mt A is currently under reno. When im in early Feb this year, i wasnt really much affected by the dust/pollution/ noise. So i guess its pretty fine.

However, becoz they are also refurbising the carpark, lots are really limited and my visitors were asked to park at nearby carparks. So its really inconvenient for those driving. Moreover, as some of the driving areas were also under works, there are security guards thr to marshall the traffic. So during peak houra like early morning and evening, driving in and out of the hospital is really congested.

Even so, i would never gif a second thought to go Mt
A as the midwives and nurses there are super friendly and warm people. Had a really plesant stay.

Btw, the confinement food thr is yummy! Got peanut pig trotters soup, vinegar trotters and alot others. All are nice. I even wanted to ask who is their caterer so that i can order confinement tingkat from them next time. Lols. If anyone manage to find out who is the caterer, please share! ;)

Thanks for info

Nurses and staff are nice and warm, sister visit you if ur catholic give prayers, comunion and counslng...

4 bed ward is okay just that if your a typ of person cant take noise of other visitors, nurse paient and bby would sugst o take 2 bed or single. But overall mt a is thumbs up. Best part food is verrrrry nice

may i ask if any lady sign up for alvernia ladies card and how much discount does it entitle for the maternity package?

Hi,

Anyone here who recently gave birth at Mt A? Can share your bill with me? I am due next month and opting for a single ward for natural delivery with epidural as hubby really hopes to stay over.

Was quoted by my clinic that the total fees including gynae fees will be estimated 6k to 8k (excluding GST). Not sure how much medisave can we claim from there but judging from this amount quoted, I guess the minimum cash payment will be 4-5k?

Hi mummies, i m planning to deliver in Mount A as well. There are so many rooms avail, super deluxe, single deluxe etc....what's the difference?

Anyway can i also purchase breast pumps upon delivery?

Juny
4-5k cash should be sufficient. Hb & I each claimed $2200 from medisave. So I paid $4400 cash for csect, 4N in single room last Dec. Since yours is natural, it should be lower even though charges might have gone up this year.

Seetha
Super deluxe apparently has a separate foyer for a day bed. As for single deluxe & single, it differs slightly in space and furnishing only. I stayed in single room which is very spacious even with a daybed in it. So in my opinion, single room is good enough.

If I'm not wrong, you can borrow/rent breatpumps from hospital if you didn't bring yours along. I latched bb at hospital. The nurse brought bb to me every 3hrs (even in the wee hours!)to latch. I only pump milk when I'm home.

Thanks for the reply

How much was your total bill for hospital, gynae and baby charges? I heard they did revise the charges this year.

I also heard that we are allowed to rent breastpumps from the hospital. The lactation nurse will come and visit us during the hospital stay and also guide us on breastfeeding.

Juny, here's my bill for Dec 2011. Induced birth with epidural, end up emergency csect with epidural.

1N at 2-bedded, 3N at 1-bedded. Rm charges $1400
Delivery fees with epidural $1500
Misc (equipment usage, OT, medication etc) $1500
Gynae fees $3100
Anaesthetist $900 (2 different doctors - 1 during induce, another for c-sect)
Total $8800 - Medisave claimed $4400 ($2.2k each from hb & I), balance $4400 cash

Baby's stay for 4N - $1200 (nursery + use of light therapy for mild jaundice.
PD fees $350
Total $1550 - Medisave claimed $1300, balance $250 cash

The nurse came with baby within hours of delivery and guided me on latching. Subsequently they just bring bb to me. They only helped me adjust position for latching if my hubby not around. Lactation nurse did drop by on 1st day to see if i'm doing fine.

Thank you so much for the info! Its very detailed
happy.gif

So they kinda charge you for both normal and csect delivery huh that's why the bill was quite high.

I went for the hospital tour and was told that the lactation nurse will come by, otherwise we can also go down to the parent craft centre to enquire. Hope all goes well for me next month

Hi , can anyone share with C section with GA for 4 bedded at MAH , roughly how much is the estimate bil and the bill breakdown please .

Thanks !!

How come i see that some of you can claim separately for baby fees? I thought max medisave claim for total bill is only $2100 for normal natural unassisted delivery w/ 2 nights stay?

What is the estimate for 1 bedder Csection w epidural at Mount A? including all the Anaesthetist fee and PD fees.

PLFM. my #1 was c-sect with epi, stayed in single room too. that was in year 2011 end. total bill is nearly $10k inclusive of baby & hubby's stay.
this year end (dec), im going thru the same. estimated costs should be around $12k.

hi yes, can deduct partial amount from our medisave. that time around $5k was deducted from my medisave. we ended up paying around $4800+ cash
