Janet
His handwriting is so so only..tends to mix up capital letters and small letters.. He thinks his handwriting will be nicer if he use lots of strength to write. Did tell him he doesnt have to do tat.. and his handwriting is good. still, he insists on writing with strength and erase until he thinks they are perfect..

hi zavier/yawn,
Thanks for the information. My boy will be 6yo this Jul

.

Mummies,
Wld you prefer your kids to be in single-session sch, partial single or double session?

Joanne,
If he uses too much strength, it will be hard to erase and will waste too much energy. But your son is a perfectionist.

ycys,
I would prefer single session school because I get some quiet time to myself in the morning. The downside is of course the difficulty to coach them in their work when they come back from school. However, my son will be in P5 next year and he has supplementary lessons 2x a week...big enough to know what to do hopefully.

Hi ycys,

Our boys r both born in jul04 =)
I personally prefers single session cos I got 3 kiddos... when all 3 goes pri sch, single session will be a lot less taxing for me =)

Janet

Isn't your girl going to the same school as her brother? Or that school going to change session timing?

ycys

I like partial single. P1 to P2 afternoon, P3 to P6 morning. I don't have to spend all my energy resolving conflicts since they are in separate session
biggrin.gif

Eileen,
You have 3 kids ? I am struggling with 2.

YawnYawn,
I am considering sending her to my former school as son's school is too stressful (SAP)...Eng and Higher CL.
Partial single is good in the sense that there is 100% attention for each child if they are in diff session.

Hi Janet,

yes.. 3! Eldest boy is 5.. turing 6 this jul. 2nd boy is 3+yrs old and youngest girl is 22mth =) How old r yours?

I can never hv 100% attention for them since all 3 r 2yrs apart... hence would prefer single session so that I can hv 100% time for myself! hahaha...

Eileen,
3 kids !!! I am breathless when both are at home in the afternoon.

My son is 10 and daughter will be 6 in Nov. Single session allows me to go out in the morn.
3 hours of peace is so good.

Wow 3 kids!! I wonder hw u handle Eileen!

I have only 1 but felt so tired mentally and physically already..Even worst feeling than Janet..hehehe

Eileen,
3 kids and all 2 years apart. You are amazing.

Shimmers,
I am tired physically because they are starting to fight and mentally because have to coach them in their work every day.

Hi Janet
Yes,my son displayed separation anxiety every beginning of the year except for this yr, he really caught us surprise by his extreme school refusal symptoms. Thankfully, now he has adjusted well to school routine and even taking the school bus. :> except he is still very very shy in social events. Not the type who will adapt well to new things.

Realised we have the same age group kids except my elder is a girl who is P4 and boy turning 6 in Oct.

Serena,
We do indeed have kids in the same age group except our kids are of the reverse - son in P4, daughter turning 6 in Nov. Do you find it tough to have to start teaching younger one all over again ?

Wow, the more i read, the more stressful i felt. Quite alots of things ur kids are learning now, make me wonder if i shld enrol my gal in some enrichment classes....
lame.gif

Janet,
To insert table, u jus type \ table{ content }. U can use excel to do that.
happy.gif

Eileen,
No wonder i din "c" u recently. Din noe u went overseas liao. How's life there?

Ocean,
Don't have to feel stressed...in fact can still relax this year.
With CA1 coming up soon, I've been busy with son's revision and neglecting daughter.

Ocean,

Here for 14mths alr... so far so good.. not as bad as I tot =).. busy with the kids too.

I've been spreeing a lot lately cos I'm returning SG in Mar for 2wks. Can collect all my loots then.. hahaha.. R u organising any sprees? heehee...

Janet
Yes. It is more tedious teaching my son than my girl. At least my girl is more self motivated and responsible. For him, we are taking slowingly as most importantly, is to build his confidence.

Serena,
Fortunately my son is older as boys tend to mature later...however boys being boys, he's not motivated and it can be very trying coaching him. He's easily distracted and bochap.

With my younger one, she is more motivated to learn. Whew!!!

Janet
Girls are easier to manage? hahaha now my hubby felt that our girl is closer to his heart as she has been understanding towards us during these few weeks when we have been focusing our attention on our boy. :>

At least, there has been progress! Yesterday, he went to his chinese enrichment class without crying! A big big step.

Serena,
Yes girls tend to be more manja esp with their fathers.

If son has Maths and Science hw like today, then hubby will attend to him while I teach my gal English or Chinese.

hi all,

my son is going to p1 next year too. now still thinking to send him to his dad old school which is henry park or just try our luck in woodlands. wanted to send him to henry as most of my friends voted but afraid the distance may tired my son out. how?

Hi rebornx,

If I were u, I would go for HPPS for sure. My son alr traveling very far to his kindy and he is perfectly fine with it.

Hi rebornx,
If your hubby is a former student of Henry Park, and it doesn't take more than 1/2 hour going to/fro school, then you can consider Henry Park. Otherwise the poor child will be very tired with all the travelling.

rebornx- depends on the type of schoolbus that services your area- cos my gal goes to NYPS at bukit timah from bukit panjang- quite far away- but the bus is the 13-seater type, so only picks up few children, so the journey is 30 mins in the morning, and 20 mins on return- still OK...so it depends on what type of school bus you get, if you do not intend to drive him daily...

But to be honest- for P1 kids in the morning session- it really takes getting used to the LONG hours e.g. 6am wake up till 2pm reach home... what a long day, esp for kids who used to go to 3 hour K2 kindy type, like my gal- major adjustment to school length...

Fairyprincess,
I've got a friend whose son is in NYPS...poor boy has to wake up at 5am bcos the bus picks him at 530am from Upp Bukit Timah.

I agree with you that it's tough getting used to the morn session but it still beats afternoon session when the time in the morning passes so fast and yet have to slot in light breakfast and lunch.
After registering my gal for P1 later this year, I will have to get her to sleep early but at least she still gets to nap in the afternoon.

Thinking of sending my girl to student care centre, i quite worry and sad. Currently she is in 3hr kiddy, like what fairyprincess say is a major change for her.

If we are using RC way to register P1, mummies do you think the chance is high.

The school that we have in mind is very popular in sengkang and alway need balloting.
Stress man.

I am also heartache thinking of my petite daughter going to P1 next year. Right now, I hope she gets into my former school which will be in morning session from next year onwards.

Does the student care centre allow the kids to have a shower and nap ?

Janet, student care centre allow the kids to shower. I was told that 2 kids share a bathroom. This is something i am not comfortable with.

For nap i dunt think so.

I very heartache to send my kid to student care also but no choice lah. Juz pray hard that she can adopt the environment fast.

Liz,
For working parents, it's kinda of relief for them when kids go to student care...at least you know their homework is completed when they go home. The other thing is you don't need a maid.
If kids cannot take nap, then they can sleep early at night.

Hi rebornx,

Fr Jurong west to Dempsy rd. Far enough? hahaha.. sch bus abt 1hr...

P1 and P2 @ HPPS is PM session =) I've 6 cousins there currently... 2 in P1 and 4 in P4!! :p

Janet, this is what i think also. At least when come back home, both of us will not be so stressed over the homework.

hi all,

thanks for the reply.

Eileen, your 6 cousins ,do they have alot of homeworks? my friend's son is in woodgrove p1 this year and she told me her son is basically doing tons of home works and no rest. luckily HPPS P1 and P2 is PM seesion.

Janet,

yes my hb was a former student in HPPS that is why putting him there at least i know the place is secure for him. If i try nearby schools might have to go balloting.

Fairyprincess

have yet to check about the school bus maybe will do so these few days. Hope they have transport from there to woodlands.

Thanks so much for the advice.

Liz,
I've got a neighbour who just put her P4 son in student care this year. He goes to bed b4 9pm bcos he is very tired. But his school homework is completed.

rebornx,
If your hubby was from HPPS, then I guess a place is secured for him. No point going to neighbourhood schools under Phase 2C. However, your boy will have to spend more time on the road.

Hi rebornx,

Homework everyday but still managable for my P4 cousins. P1 initially more relax but still hv some homework.

Eileen,
Where do you stay ? Before you return to SG, will you have to register for a place at the Singapore Embassy for a place ?

Eileen,
Which school will you be going to register at ?
My uncle registered his son at S'pore embassy and his son has been on LOA (leave of absence) for the past 4 years...whole family is in Taiwan.

happy.gif

Janet,
Have u decided liao?

Reborn777,
Which school u sending ur kid to? Me stay in Woodland. Need to "check if got lots of competitors" or not. Wahahhaaa....
biggrin.gif

Lim Leng,
Henry Park Phase 2C has high take up rate.
If you're staying in Clementi and within 1km of Nan Hua, can consider.

Ocean,
Haven't 'seen' you here for a while...so you were busy having a good time. Which site do you normally buy from ? PM me leh...I need some retail therapy.

Most prob putting her in CHIJ TP. Phase 2A2 also.

Janet,
Not having good time lah, but was real bz at work recently. Every day work till so late...
sad.gif

On spree, i am all time favourite of Leapfrog items. Started becos of Leapfrog items too, and then get addicted...
lame.gif
So, whenever someone tell me got sale or i find good buy, i cant resist but to organise spree.
blush.gif
Also buy from Amazon and The Book People.
happy.gif
I enjoy the "Add Cart to Basket and Place Order" process.
happy.gif
If i have a little bit more time, will also join other spree on clothing and chinese books. Kekekee... But recently, doing spree can be quite stressful...
lame.gif

Btw, the P1 registration is starting soon hor.

Wow... so u confirm liao.
happy.gif
Great to hear that. CHIJ is a good school too.

Hi Janet,

I thgt Nan Hua's take up rate oso high.. i shud b between 1-2km..

my parents are for neighbourhood school. not too stressful.. but hubby hope can have a better start for him..

i am within 1km for pei tong n i saw past records no balloting... so i thinking shud i try nan hua/hpps in phase 2c and if fail, then i go pei tong phase 2c supp..

Oceans,
No point putting my daughter in same school as older sibling...the pressure from his school is too high. Can't take the stress if both in same school. We kinda confirmed, now waiting for registration, should be mid-end July.

Lim Leng,
Pei Tong is opp police station. You're under Phase 2C for both Nan Hua and Pei Tong?

Thanks Janet!

I am in phase 2C for both. if based on the statistic, Nan Hua is out becos i shud be between 1-2km. Pei Tong is sure ok. no ballot.
