Advice Needed for Nanny/Babysitter

Dear all, I intend to find a babysitter for my baby. As the babysitter is someone i know and she say that just pay her market rate will do. SO i have some Qns to ask.

Market rate nw is like $500-$600, 7-7pm. But as my working time is very fixed so i only require her to take care my baby from 8.15 - 5.15pm. Which is only 9 hrs instead of full 12 hrs. So am i able to bargain to $450 as the timing is shorter?

2nd is those 7-7pm nanny.. do they provide 3 meals? Breakfast, lunch & dinner when baby is more than 6 mths old? As when baby take solid food need to pay another $50. So if i bring my baby home at 5pm means no need dinner for my baby le right? By the way she is a vegetarian.

3rd is... Public holiday is it consider rest day for babysitter? If no then do u all deduct her pay?

Sorry for asking so much qns but i really need the help. Thanks for replying... CHeers!

I pay my bb sitter $600 and we drop him off just before 8 am and pick him just before 8 pm. but sometimes earlier before 7 pm. depending on our schedule.

I think u need to tell yr bbsitter that you only need her to look after yr bb for 9 hrs and if she is comfortable with $450.

It is up to u if u want ur bbsitter to prepare dinner for bb. U can always pick bb up and ta-bao the prepared dinner to feed bb at home. If you have time to cook dinner then tell bbsitter to prepare only lunch. Breakfast - not much preparation. cereal ? which you have to provide. The $50 that u top up is for the fish, veg and rice grains. actually now things so expensive $50 is not alot if you want yr bb to take good fish like cod fish.

No public hol is hol not a practice to deduct pay. In fact, if you take leave and look after bb, some dont even deduct pay. Take it that bbsitter is given a day off.

i hope this helps.

I pay my babysitter $550 for weekdays only and exclude public holidays. You can negotiate timing with her; I drop my baby at 8am and pick her up around 7+pm.

Babysitter will provide 3 meals and yup, you need to give her extra $50 when your baby start taking solids.

Sometimes when my babystter has a medical appointment, I need to take leave to look after my baby... and did not deduct her pay. It's kinda like goodwill.

Hi, whats the curent rate for asking the babysitter to come to my place for 3-4 hours each day. As my husband is working from home, we only need the babysitter to come in a few times a week. Any recommendation is appreciated.

Looking for a FTWM mummy to share in-house experienced babysitter in Tampines St 83/ Pasir Ris, (Mini in-house infant care)

Timeline: Starting from Feb’ 2009
Ratio: 1 Nanny to 2 Babies
Age Range: 3 months – 9months only

I am a FTWM (I have a 4 month old daughter), and am thinking of employing an in-house babysitter (the contact i got has some background in childhood education and she is Chinese, very pleasant lady) to care for my girl. The babysitter will come to my house (Tampines Blk 865) everyday to look after our babies from 8am-7pm (will be flexible) and she'll have to do reading, flashcards and baby chores.

The in-house nanny is charging me roughly $1500 for two babies ($700 x 2 for nanny services, $100 transportation), will not have overtime fee, but I will have to provide for her food during the day (which may be around $50 per month per baby)

Nanny charge does not include:
1. Food/ Formula Milk for Baby
2. Perishables- Diapers, Shampoo, Wet Wipes etc.
3. Washing laundry (which will be done by my maid)
4. Cooking (which will be done by my maid)
5. Sleeping linen and blankets

I have planned up a timetable and will get the nanny to:
1. Make Puree / Vegetable soups until babies ready for porridge
2. Feed formula to a timetable
3. Follow baby routines
4. Shower baby (assisted by my maid)
5. Change baby (assisted by my maid)
6. Play and Sing to a timetable
7. Read and Flashcards to a timetable (English, Math, Chinese)
8. Be on stand-by when we need her for weekends
9. Protect, look after the house and oversee the maid's chore..

I have plenty of toys and books and Glenn Doman Flash Cards (Math, Chinese), if mummies like to bring materials to share, we can plan this into the timetable

We will still need to interview this babysitter before anything. The downside is this babysitter does not speak superb English but she speaks great mandarin, can manage basic Vocab such as ‘shopping’, ‘please finish your food’ etc

Interested mummies, please call me at 81682107 Email: [email protected], my name is Kym. Please note there is only space for one baby, also, we are a simple family and is just looking for someone kind and loving to take care of my daughter, we will try to accommodate any mummy request only to our best abilities, thanks

To let in a bit on my family and our arrangement- We are a family of 3, and we stay at Tampines St 83, Blk 865, is a 5-room flat, airy and cozy. I am in the Pharma industry, and my husband is a Stock Broker. We have an Indonesian maid who is 32 yrs old, cooks great Chinese food and has children of her own; therefore the maid will provide good help to the babysitter. The reason I’d like to share this babysitter is so I can share costs, as the babysitter has to come to our place everyday, her rates are more expensive, but she is willing to drop her price if there are 2 babies. We must state that this method is quite unlike the traditional nannies whereby the baby must confine to their lifestyle, as we are hoping the babysitter will engage our babies in play and reading rather than just doing nothing. My maid will do the food marketing and the babysitter will not be allowed not bring our children out. As my husband and I are mobile, we will always drop by to check out the babysitter.

I know of a baby sitter who leaves near Serangoon MRT. I think her charges is around market rate. Planning to place my baby with her. She has more than 15 yrs of experience taking care of newborn onwards and I noted that she has a Diploma in Preschool Teaching. Feel better placing my baby with someone knowledgable.

hi all, new to this thread. what is the nanny/baby sitter expected to do? and is it 1 nanny taking care of alot of children (usually at the nanny's house?)

i'm wondering if there is such thing that the nanny comes to my house, and looks after 1 of my kids? (i have 2 kids, one is now 5 weeks old, the other is 15 months old). i have a domestic helper who is filopino but she will not be able to handle 2 kids (so close in age) by herself once i return to work after maternity leave.

so i need a nanny that can come to my place in the daytime while hubby & i are at work. she would need to take care of one of the kids (i havent decided if younger or older kid). food for my elder child is prepared by my domestic helper and my younger is on exclusive breastmilk.

any advise from moms who have nannies? any such nanny who do the above situation?

also, if bringing kids to the nannies house, where do the kids sleep? must we bring our playpen/toys?

any sharing/advice will be very helpful. thank you!

usually is one to one..one nanny to one baby....if there are too many, then you have to ask if she can really take good care of all of them..

As for the special request that you need, you have to check with the individual nanny. i think unless you are paying them a premium, if not, not many will take up such offer. Good nanny is hard to find and in great demand

and being a nanny, they have the flexibility to do some housework themselves. If they go over to your house, then they will not have the flexibility. Furthermore, they will have to incur travelling cost.

Anyway, just my thought. maybe check with the nanny that you are looking for?

Hi, I'm a mom of a 18mths old boy. I've placed him under the care of a nanny since he was 3mths old. I am thinking of sending him to childcare but I'm worried that I might not be able to take leave to look after him if he falls sick too often.

Is there any experienced nanny/mothers out there who can take care of my son on days when he's sick and can't attend childcare, as well as pick my son from the childcare and look after him (at your place) for a few hours in the evening if I have to work overtime.

By the way I'm a Singaporean Chinese, staying at Sengkang compassvale area.

I'm contactable at [email protected] or 9119 8339. Pls do not PM me. Thanks!
