In opinion, would it be better to get 2-in-1 or just focus on getting the view cam n a camera?
 
Roger, 2002 is ok. Imagine i was low all the way after i graduated from temasek poly in 1997 to 2003!!! Come to think of it, ya hor the song is like tat too hor. haha. Ur pentax camera poster so attractive, make me wanna buy becos of ur poster haha. I still miss Film SLR, so many things can do with them as long as we think how to do it. I think i look for nikon /canon then, since i have a background in photography, maybe i shld pick it up again as hobby. My girl u can use as Model lah hehe, u see my facebook album... nowadays only take her picture-.-

I bought my DSLR liao. a sony a330.
still trying to learn how to use it :p
i bought for 699 with one kit lens (think 1.8 and dunno wat 55m :p)

i scare i stupid, cant master the art of taking pics... or 3min heat nia.. so dun wan to spend so much on the 1st cam.

if me or my hubby really master and wants to go more into it.. then will upgrade the cam! :p

and hor... how abt a "shooting class" also. i still v blur with all the functions.. anyhow snap nia. lucky digital.. so shoot 10 sure hv 2-3 nice ones! wahahaha

I m a dec'09 mum but i seldom post lol. Jus to share w u all. My sil jus told me try not to bring my kids to crowded pl cos this time the hfmd is very high as she jus attended the meeting at MOH. She is a princple at a CC ctr.

Think for the time being better not let our small ones join any activites. Play safe better.

sandy: just things u need to keep in mind i guess. consider your budget and your learning curve. some people manage well with alot of gadgets. i am not a very IT savvy person actually. if you do not have a big budget to work with, can consider getting 2nd hand ones from the local forum. people there buy n sell very quickly cos all chasing latest gadgets. so can pick up a good one at a good price.

perhaps u can look at the panasonic G2 then. i think it offers the best features in a small body.
 
ivy: stick with the 2 big brands then. won't go wrong.

i am planning to do a shoot for the dec 09 babies. i just need to sort out some logistics things.

i am actually teaching kids photography in secondary schools. if there is enough interest, can organise a short lesson for the parents here.

sarah: the last one i went to? he has shops around singapore. usually he will be at the one in amk. don't have his details right now. i'll pass it to you once i get from his daughter.

good or not? mmm ... i was out of a job when i visit him. he promise me i will get a job within a week and i did. and it was quite a good job as well. i left to pursue photography this year because it is something that i have been wanting to do for a while.

i have shot kids in the past but for more magazine stuff. i am going into family and children photography since my equipment is not fully utilised.

i am planning to offer the dec 09 parents a free shoot for their kids. just need to work out the details.

mtdt: i think ard 5-7 shld be ok. im not charging for a simple hands on course. it will probably take abt 2-3hrs. just the basics of handling a camera and some tips on shooting. i just need a venue to host the lesson.
 
Sandy- erm, I go home n compare n see cos I scared is too small the vest then no chance to wear as a Kimono le. Roger- wah ya lor, suffer all together haha, talking abt camera, my bil got a nikon good lei , very clear and sharp think around 2k !

Btw, we can organise a gathering again and u can be our pro photographer. Which I suppose we should hold a big 1st bday bash for all our dec bb in nov and Roger can then help to snap the pics of all our beautiful babies. How about that?

roger... thanks!! im seriously contemplating the G2 now after wat u have said... price wise, G2 and G10 has $350 difference seems like alot but G2 shoots HD video is AVCHD format so the file wun be so big...G10 shoots HD in continuous jpeg n the salesperson told me 10min is alraedy 8gb!! i hear already nearly faint... duno he got bluff me or not...is it true?
but hor $350 more to pay for dis seems abit exp, can invest to buy another video camera... i actually have a sony video cam, super white elephant never use it... instead i use my point n shoot canon camera to take videos and im happier with the quality of the video taken rather than the sony camcorder.....
The G2 with a 14 - 42 zoom lens costs $1160 and G10 is $805... Eyeing pancake lens!! take pixs so nice but its so exp haiz...

How is canon 550? does it shoot in HD and wat format? I was tinking its abit big....

sandy.. i have same considerations like u... im oso tempted just buy a 2 in 1 rather than a separate camcorder.. at least dun have to lug 2 instead of just 1... my sony camcorder v white elephant le... our first choice was at first nex5 as its small n shoots hd video... but later we realise dat is dfficult to adjust e manual settings as touch screen and also the small body will make it difficult to use bigger lens in future... i guess if have budget, go with canon n nikon, never wrong
 
sandy: no worries. i will update on the shoot. most likely will be shooting in a studio so everyone can be comfy. btw u worried abt shooting your younger kid? why so? i shot my kid the minute she was out of the womb. :D

sarah: i need someone to sponsor a venue cos my place is not suitable for a gathering at the moment.

shryn: no worries. can always learn as long as your camera has manual controls. but i might not be around in nov because going for a holiday with my wife. hehee.
 
roxy: the canon 550D shoots in full hd 1080 which the G2 cannot do. and the format is in quicktime mov. so its convenient if u are using a mac. u can use imovie to edit it. it is alot bigger than the panasonic cameras though.
 
I use a separate video camcorder.. Got good and bad. Good is that quality is very good n can project on big TVs clearly, bad is very troublesome to carry around n it was expensive. I used it to document the few days before I delivered and I introduced our preparations for the baby. Now look back, it was a very nice way to recap n to see that bb crying right after birth

hi all. i am planning on doing a hr studio shoot for each interested party, for next sat and sun. 3 family on each day. from 1pm to 4pm.

would that be a ok timing for most of the family here?

i would like to let everyone pick a suitable timing where their babies are in the best mood to do it. maybe after their nap so babies are generally happier.

the studio is located at amk ave 5, near to yio chu kang road.

for more details, i will send it out shortly but just want to get a feel of how many will be free and interested to do it next weekend during that timing.
