Hi May & Wan,
I didn't actively teach my bb to walk, in fact i discouraged him to walk when he used to pull our shirt to lift himself up bcos i worried his joints r not strong enough to support his wt at 8-9mo. However, he refused to crawl at all, even w toys in front of him. Think he just wanted to follow his gor gor ard.
So now he is walking v well w/o support & his 1st bday is still 12 days away! Can squat, stoop, turn ard etc, even w shoes on. His gor gor only can do these steadily ard 14-15mo. So each child is different. Just give them time & plenty of opportunities.
At learning stage, we helped him by holding his upper arms (not hands as I worried he'll accidentally twisted them whe fallen down) to help to support him & prevent falls, as he is v kan cheong & will try to run, esp when gor gor is ard.
V v tiring & back-breaking period. Fortunately, now i can relax abit liao.
He only interested in tv commercials or cartoons w catchy music but i usually ask my elder son to close the bedroom door when he was watching tv so that bb wont b watching too.
I managed to keep my elder son away fr tv until 2yo when he went into childcare centre. Even then, it's 1 selected program per day during weekends (childcare has tv time fr 5pm till we picked him up on weekdays). So he is used to little tv. Even now, max is 1hr a day after homework etc. However, he is v geared towards power ranger, pokemon, transformers these days. Boys r boys.
I refused to buy him a toy gun until he was 2yo+. Instead he used his imagination, & use his arms as rifles. Now bb has easy access to the toy gun. Sigh..
Guess my std is dropping.
hahahaa...
