November 2017 Mummies

Brainy Smurf, I chose those with no raw fish. Actually my gynae told me it's ok to eat sashimi, as long as I don't go for sashimi buffet. However, he forbids me to dye my hair because he says the scalp absorbs things well. I have a lot of white hair, I'm thinking if it's safe to use the ammonia-free hair dye after my first trimester. Thanks for sharing, pineapple is very famous no-no fruit. I didn't know orange and honeydew also cannot, always thought they are pretty heaty.
Ya, I read some where the dye-ing of hair not allowed. I think rebonding also not allowed.

Raw food is a no no. Both kkh doctor and Chinese physician stressed about this point. And because of my wife body weak, CP also ask her avoid cold food like salads, food from fridge, etc..

I m having night fever n whole day bad nausea recently, is it a common sign? When should I consult my gynae?

Nausea is common. Fever wise could be ur immunity is weak therefore going to fall sick. Can just take normal paracetamol otherwise drink more water

night fever pls watch out for dehydration. if u feel tt u r super dehydrated for days do c a dr.
Yeah, i sweat a lot at night! But the fever gone in the morning, just feel very tired n weak as din sleep well at night. Ok, will try to drink a lot of water at day time and tell my gynae when I visit him on this coming Saturday:)

I feel very bad for being annoyed at my mom this morning. She wished my hubby a happy birthday and said be healthy since you're going to be a father. I don't know why that last sentence "since you're going to be a father" makes me so irritated at her...

Paracetamol not very suitable I think. Better avoid is possible or consult gp. My wife have similar characteristics, sometimes very cold, very hot or even feverish and some ache. Drink lots of warm water.

I think daddies must be healthy. So that we mummies can catch up on sleep while daddies do night feeding :) :) :)

Hi fellow mummies, for the past two days, I felt better after throwing up. There was nothing except stomach acid. I'm just wondering, is this "morning-sickness related" or I have excessive stomach acid / gastric pain and I have to take antacid? Anyone taking antacid?

pls consult dr, don't self medicate when u r preggy though antacid is safe. like for my gynae, he don't encourage medication

My gynae prescribed gaviscon when I told him my nausea is due to hunger. Can try that instead?

Thanks! I wonder if I can email my gynae and get it fr GP. My next appointment is in May.
You can get gaviscon from gaviscon or some ntuc easily. It's safe for pregnancy. I've been taking it more than a month since I had bad acid reflux and heartburn. Avoid any acidic foods including carbonated drinks and coffee/tea.

Anyone's bump is showing already? This is my 2nd one, not sure if that's the case. My bump is like 4 months big kind :p.

Anyone heard abt pilonidal cyst? I m having it right now! M prescribed antibiotic and infection cream to apply but it does not cure my pain, some pus of mine was being taken out n sent to lab investigation and if the situation does not go well after 5 days I will need to have an surgery. anyone if there is any better option besides surgery?

Maybe try hot compress? My hubby had surgery for that before. It was because we tried to squeeze it and it got infected. So I guess the natural remedy would be hot compress, keeping the area clean and apply the antibiotics cream as prescribed.

Ya I will do that later, how many days did ur Husband spend tosee the result? Actually I got the first antibiotic from my gynae on last time, it seemed good n I felt better after taking, but it was before my squatted down, I felt d**m pain when I accidentally squatted down last night and it pained till now, can't even turn over n sit or even sleep, so I was referred to specialist this morning and the doc asked me to take another type of antibiotic but i can't feel the effect..

My hubby had to go for surgery immediately because it was very swollen like a golf ball when we went to the GP. The GP immediately referred him to ER and the surgery took place on the same day. So sorry to hear that :( Hope it will get better soon!

i just did the hot remedy (just soak a cloth into hot water n apply on my tailbone for number of times) and it seems help! But dunno how Long it can last, lol
Btw will the frequent movement affect the recovery? I got to move as I m having frequent urination recently... the pain is Killing me!

Mmm, not sure about that. But logically, the movement will improve blood circulation? I think it's more important to avoid abrasion during movement?

My wife in is in the 9th week of pregnancy. She starts to feel nauseous very badly and it affects her appetite badly. Found out by chance, she feel much better after eating lemons.

Anyone have a similar experience and if lemons safe?

Lemon is citrus n every preg lady their reaction to food is different. It may be ok for ur wife but not to others. As long as ur wife can eat anything during this first trimester just go ahead. Is a survival period, is until 2nd trimester then u need to see what food is good for the bb as second trimester is 'bu' the bb in it

Hi mummies, may I know for those taking harmony test, how much is the gynae charging? I was quoted 1.8k+gst, is this reasonable?

Hi, I'm with kkh as a private patient..I paid around $400 for my Oscars and then around $900 for harmony for my twins pregnancy, so yours seem to be on the high side.. Even my private gynae at tanglin only quote 1.2k for harmony so maybe u'll like to clarify what 1.8k charges entail?

Yup, agree, maybe $1800 includes pre-eclampsia test + detailed scan... My detailed scan was around $300

I paid around 1k+gst for Panaroma test (private gynae) + $188 detailed scan at Thomson Medical Center.

Can take paradol. I took it during my 2nd pregnancy when I have very bad headaches, my gynae also gave the green light. But pls only pop it when necessary, or unable to bear the pain.

Hi Mummies, can i know for those why did you choose to take the panaroma test? Is it because of age? My gynae told me no need to take since i'm 32 this yr. Oscar Scan will do.

OSCAR test only compute the probability risks that the baby might have a particular condition.

When I took the OSCAR test after factoring blood test for my 2nd pregnancy at 36, my probability was very lousy. I have to pay extra money to do a Harmony test (with an accuracy of 99% DS case). Luckily everything turns out fine.

For my 3rd pregnancy this time, I took Panaroma test straightaway, skipping the OSCAR , partly due to my maternal age too.

I'm 35 but also a paranoid person. Gynae offers a choice of Oscar and Panorama, I didn't think twice and immediately go for panorama for a good night sleep.

I'm still waiting for the result. Around 2 weeks. Can identify bb's gender also. I told my bosses and family members after the detailed scan show low risk of genetic disorder.

Have, but can't see if I wear loose clothing. My gynae put me on a diet because I gained 2 kg in 6 weeks...

Same here! I've gained 3kg in 8 weeks time. I'm wondering if this is normal for the 1st trimester as I dare not workout n get too loose on meals. Anyone has any nutritionist to recommend?
