Hello, I'm a Type 2 Diabetic patient and just tested using the pregnancy kit positive! While I'm very excited, I also have concerns. Do I see a gynae now? or do i wait till approx 8 weeks like what i looked up in the worldwideweb? and... anyone has recommendation which gynae to see that specializes with Type 2 diabetic patients?

Thank you in advance.

I recommend u to use negative ions clothing. Nowadays medicine is very risky may damage your organs or affect your baby.

Hi Frozendream,

Congrats on your pregnancy!
Did you manage to get Gynae specialize in Type 2 diabetes?
Same like you, i'm trying to google around but didn't come to any close search result.
I'm TTC but it'll be a gd to have the info come in handy when time comes.
Can you share with me more of your experience? Besides, pricking the fingers 7 times a day, is there any things need to take note of from the normal pregnancy?

I guess there is no gynae that's specialised in Type 2 diabetes so just look for Senior Obgyn will do as I assume senior gynae would have better experience.

I went to the gynae and she referred me to endocrine. So normal pregnancy maybe only see 1 Dr which is the gynae but with Type 2 diabetes, we need to see gynae and endocrine. I need to see both of them once a month.

As for blood glucose readings, I need to take 4 points everyday (pre and post breakfast, post lunch, post dinner) and 7 points once a week (pre and post breakfast, lunch, dinner and before bedtime).

I need to report my glucose readings and what I ate to the nurse and the dietitian so that they can monitor my readings and if there is a need to adjust my insulin intake.

Oh, I'm under NUH's care, so I am not too sure what others hospital's procedures like. As for price, I am not a PR so it is quite hefty for me. Not sure how the price is like for SPR and SC.

Hi frozendream,

Thanks for the information, very helpful indeed!
I've seen quite a couples of diabetes patients are with NUH, i guess they have better expertise in this area.
Can you share with me the doctor you're seeing?

For Obgyn, I'm seeing Dr Chua Tsei Meng.
For Endocrine, Dr Chua referred me to Dr Chionh Siok Bee.
