Anyone battling with PCOS?

I succeeded in first try at age 28 with KKH too. My doctor don't believe in waiting too long, so he ask me to proceed to SO-IUI immediately after diagnosed. My husband also has low sperm count.

Just relax and carry on with normal life. Try not to stress. I didn't take anything special food or do special things except for the supplements doctor gave me.

May I ask how old are you?

Hard not to stress. Always got stress by his relative. Haiz.

I stated I was 28 when I succeeded. Now I am 30.

We tried much longer than you, for 5 years. I think we are immune to the stress from other people Liao. Every time they ask the same questions, but this is never ending, after having first one they ask when will U have second one.

Maybe I had low expectation of the outcome, my success rate was only less than 5%, and the scans show that I had only 1 egg growing to suitable size when the target is 2-3 eggs. So I thought the cycle is doomed and I need to proceed to IVF (success rate is 40%).

Oops sorry. Missed out you stated your age. May I ask which doctor you see at kkh?

I went to polyclinic to get referral to KKH and was assigned to Steven Teo. But in KKHIVF centre the doctor that sees and monitor the eggs growth will not be your doctor, even for private patients.

Dr Teo has left KKH to join TFC.

Ya, you may feel unsafe that your doctor is not with you but this is how KKH manage the huge number of patients. If THH is to see and review all his patients think he no need to sleep Liao.

But trust me, you will be in good hands. My scans are done by different MOs every time and my insemination was done by an Egyptian lookalike MO. it also boils down to luck.

Good luck and baby dust to you!

Sure! I will update my progress here. Starting my 1st appt next mth. So looking forward. :D

Ok! Just to be mentally prepared to use take jabs instead of medicine. But the nurses will teach u so don't worry, just need to overcome your own psychological barrier.

Hello all... i am not sure how and why i missed all these msg and updates to this thread!!! Heres an update from my last post...

I went to a gynae in Mar and was prescribed Sunolut and Ovinum. Did a blood test on Monday and my review with the gynae on Friday wasnt that good. Gynae told me to go fertility clinic and do ivf.

I dont know if he was trying to save me the money or just providing the quickest option for me to conceive but the idea of ivf scares me. Needles? Procedures? Etc... while its heartening to hear positive stories of how pcos patients can conceive naturally, i cant help but feel my pcos must be quite jialat that i need to do ivf.

I had a cyst removal last 2014 in my ovary and the gynae did ovarian drilling. But i wasnt actively ttc so i did not follow up much. Now that i am considering a visit to fertility clinic, i have some queries.

1) for someone like me suffering from pcos with irregular af, how can i monitor my ovulation period? I assume ovulation period is the golden window for bd?

2) other than visiting a fertility clinic and considering IUI/IVF options and seeking their treatment course, what other methods or option will help improve the chance? I have heard of tcm treatment concurrently with western treatment. I was told to have a more alkaline diet - consuming milk/water keffir, having a PCOS diet like avoiding soy and diary, try to have more bd to regulate hormones and essential oil. Anyone tried this as well?

3) i know losing weight will be beneficial for pcos patients but i have been going to the gym for years and all i got was leaner, fitter but not lighter :(

Trying to find more support group to stay positive while hearing to success stories. At least there is some glimpse of hopes.

Btw i am in a whatsapp groupchat with a few ladies who also has PCOS. If anyone is keen to join let me know. Its really important to have support group cos i feel it now. :(

HELLO! I was not actually diagnosed with PCOS by KKH.. actually they didn't even give me a diagnosis, but I was put on Letrazole and after about 4 to 5 cycles, I got pregnant with my darling son...

I'm TTC now for baby no. 2.. went back to KKH, but the dr wouldn't prescribe me with anything as I'm still BF-ing my son.. She asked me to go back in October, if my son has weaned off from BF...

Hoping to try the Bai Feng Wan and Blackmores Conceive Well. Can they be taken together?

Can be taken 2 hours apart

I just finished a consultation with Dr SF Loh and it seems like IVF is the only option for me and my husband. We are considering KKH for IVF since it has subsidy. Not sure if they will reject me or not, since i have PCOS and am overweight. Nonetheless, any recommended fertility doctor to recommend at KKH?

Dr Tan heng hao is quite famous there. Why will they reject you? They are supposed to help! I seriously hope not... But probably the doctor may refer you for weight management program...I am also slightly overweight and my husband is obese, kkh didn't say anything.

I dont know =( I was seeing a Gynae before i went to Dr SF Loh, he told me to just go to KKH to do IVF. I thought i could consider IUI and went to TFC and see Dr SF Loh. He put me on one cycle of clomid and only to find out that i am not ovulating and my husband's sperm count is low. He said IVF is the only option. He gave my husband some meds to work on his issues first.

He made a passing statement that if i were to go to KKH for IVF, they will reject me unless i lose 30kg and become normal weight. But with PCOS, i am having quite a difficult time trying to lose weight. been hitting the gym and all that is happen is i am getting fitter. If i go and do IVF at a private clinic, it will cost me so much with no subsidy =(

Is it true that for Dr Tan HH, one has to wait up to 4 hours even with an appointment? I am assigned to Dr Sadhana by KKH but seems like Dr Tan HH is also quite famous. How ah?

Not sure if doctor matters to you. Because once the fertility treatment proper starts, the doctors on duty will monitor and scan your egg growth and not Tan HH himself. He will only do the egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Think he is quite famous and waiting time is long. Maybe you can see your assigned doctor first and then decide? If you are comfortable with her then can stick with her. Going for a famous doctor may not necessary be good as he maybe too busy and overlook some details.

I did IUI with kkh in 2013 without choosing any doctor as I was referred by polyclinic.

Oh that is good to know. So technically the doctor you select will only do the egg retrieval and embryo transfer? Ya the past 2 doctors i went to are famous but sometimes i feel they can be abit impatient.

Hi everyone! very heartening to read everybody's stories, inspired me to share mine and seek help, not wonder alone.

I was diagnosed with pcos in 2009 at my first visit to a Gynae (ever in my life!) and I was put on BCP. started out with diane35, but felt very ill on it. doc switched to Yasmin n I have been on it ever since. I'm never overweight in school, chubby n big size tall yes, but never in TAF or anything. I always have hair loss since puberty. :(

that's how long I've been on BCP! last year, I decided to change Gynae (in between Ive switched twice so this Gynae is my 4th opinion) who told me I'm not ovulating at all, I shouldn't take BCP. I was really quite heartbroken when he told me in such a straight forward matter-of-fact way, but I understood he meant no harm. so last year before CNY, i decided to stop.

that was when all hell broke loose.

I became rapidly depressed, I couldn't get out of bed - and I'm a rather happy person so you can imagine this switch. worse of all, I gained more than 10kg within a few months. I'm not exaggerating because I saw it happen, to the point stretch marks are all over me. my period didn't come for 8 months, and as dread eased as I was, I continued to work out exercise as I would. I increased my work out frequency, hired a PT, did TCM, photographed everything I ate and kept a log, etc. but no. I ballooned to 89kg and my fat percentage jumped.

nobody understood n just kept asking me to exercise n eat clean. it hurt so badly emotionally. I should be at the peak of my career; just came back from overseas n continuing to work back here. no. I felt so lousy.

I went to see a Gynae to ask why is this happening. my thyroids are fine, I'm doing everything right, but she can't find out why. that's all I got which made me lose so much faith.

after 8 months of misery, I chickened out and went back on BCP. I lost weight, 10kg, but never quite more to back when I was healthy. my mood came back, I was happy.

but deep inside I know it's not a long term solution.

so this year, at the urging of my family, I've decided to go off it. hopefully, for good. my long time BF proposed and he has been supportive. I continue to photograph my food I eat 1 slice of bread for breakfast, 1 salad no sauce for lunch, n a light dinner which I all account for with my PT, I continue to work out 4 times a week, with 1 time/week PT, aiming at minimum 2500kcal burn from Active workout (not counting 10k minimum walking or my home mini workouts). I run longer and faster, lift heavier. my PT commented that for my body weight I'm really very strong and high endurance, but the weight is limiting me.

but hey, guess what? I'm ballooning again.

I am back to where I was last year.
I'm tired, I'm hurting physically and internally and emotionally, and I don't know who can help. I'm stronger this year because I know I must overcome this once and for all, so I can get all the help I need. I'm not alone.

not sure if anyone has the same experiences as me, any advice, any professionals to seek?

Hi Annadrea, why not try an endocrinologist instead of gynae? They are the specialist in hormone problems. I'm being treated by an endo instead of a gynae also for PCOS

hello gals,
I just want to tell you gals not to give up hope.

I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and my endocrinologist told me to take Metformin and gave me diet to follow. I managed to lose about 7kg and my endocrinologist told my husband and me to not stress about conceiving and just let nature takes it course.

I'm not exactly young, turning 36, so of course I'm stressed! hahaha....

But a few months ago, i missed my menses, so took a test and it came out positive! Now I'm just finishing my first trimester.

So there, don't give up. I'm not the first one here to get pregnant despite being PCOS, and I'm sure I will not be the last. Fighting everyone! :)

Oh, at my last ultrasound check, my gynae said the polycystic ovaries are almost completely gone. Can be the fact that i lost weight and my hormones are sort of back to normal but my gynae said with a pregnancy, the symptoms will go away too. Just hope that it will not come back again. Hah!

Hi, just to share that I started to see Dr. THH at KKH for infertility more than a year back. At that time, he started me on Letrozole (2.5mg) but I did not react to it. Fast forward to a few months ago, he diagnosed me with PCOS. I was quite upset on knowing this and thought I sure need to go through IUI or IVF.

But my Chinese physician wanted me to try natural again for at least 1 more time before going for IUI and suggested that I get the ovulation pills from the Dr. Tan again. He did and gave me Letrozole again but with higher dosage at 7.5mg. I successfully ovulated on this 1st cycle of higher dosage. It was positive on the OPK as well as the Day 21 progesterone serum blood test at the hospital. I'm now wating to see if I've gotten pregnant. But even if I don't, I'm still happy that I can ovulate and will ask for a 2nd cycle of Letrozole as soon as it is possible. My ovulation is purely due to the medication. I did not do anything to lose weight.

I also have been on TCM for a year or so with weekly accupunture. I read that PCOS patients usually have low progesterone and thinner lining. I believe TCM will help in these areas too. Even if we need to go for IUI or IVF eventually, a stronger body will raise the pregnancy success rates.

Fyi, I tried Clomid a few years back with another hospital but it had no reaction on me at all. Therefore, Dr. Tan prescribed me Letrozole.

Babe I was also diagnosed w PCOS n endometriosis from the scans n blood test I took.. was trying for a while n had a miscarriage last yr. but am 16wks pregnant now! It's an expensive pregnancy though cos I was in between jobs n Travelling then to my surprise I am pregnant! To TOP off the 'conditions' my D&C causes a lot of adhesion in my womb, was supposed to do a surgery to remove them so that it'll be easier to get pregnant .. but none is needed.. so I reckon for me being stress free is the key! Stay happy n healthy.. o, I started taking bai feng Wan weekly after mens... think it helps with regulating the mens n 'warming the womb'.. hang in there!

Hi can I know which doctor u went?

Other than fertility issues, anyone else like me suffering the full suite of pcos?

I recently did a check up for my insurance application and was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Feeling quite depressed over it.

Pcos is a hormonal condition that not only makes it hard to conceive(due to many reasons, not ovulating, no mature eggs bla bla bla) but also excessive body hair, losing of hair, acne, weight gain and difficult to shed, insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance also puts us at risk of diabetes:(

So which means i cant be like normal people to just be careful about sugar but i need to be super strict about it.

Feeling quite demoralised and it isnt helping that i am pregnant now.

Hi, was on clomid and metformin but no luck until clomid stopped and I still continue metformin. Tested positive last week. Waiting for scan next week. I was diagnosed with pcos also and had a mc 2 years ago. Didn't stop trying. Don't give up hope. You will never know what's in store for you. Just keep trying

Can we buy metformin or clomid Ourselves outside?

Work for u means the pcos is completely gone bcos of this product ? I ll take note of your suggestion ..
I bought it end of last yr. Usually my menses wont come unless induce. Even when i try different tcm meds, my menses wont come too. But after taking this 1 mth plus, my menses came in Jan on its own. =) today i went gync review gync say i dont look like pcos patient, blood test result all looks normal. Womb also unlike pcos patient.

Further to that , I don have idea which gynecologist is good and reliable , I jus heard that nuh one is quite good .. u have any comments on that ?

My menses was haywire and suddenly it come on 8th and never stop. So I went to Raffles Medical on 26th to do scanning and blood tests, doc diagnosed me as Pcos. Currently taking hormones pill to stop the menses and start on clomid after this cycle. Feeling depress but reading so many posts that many ppl still able to conceive even diagnosed with pcos , I will never give up.

I jus went for check up in nuh , I m diagnosed w pcos , quite sad though but doc said this is getting quite common. So is it possible to get preg naturally or straight away take the IUI ? Now awaiting to do blood test and X-ray on nx appointment ...

hang in there ladies! to give u all more hope - i was diagnosed with PCOS in 2014.. but managed to conceive naturally and gave birth to a healthy biggg sized baby boy in Jan 2017 :)

dont give up!

You conceived without any med or supplements when u were w pcos ?
