Hi mummies,
If anyone here is giving home schooling to their children?
Could you please share more to me?
Such as the prons n cons, how to start, when should start, the teaching materials, etc.
My girl is 15 months old now and i am a housewife.
I am thinking to send my girl to kindergarten later, that's why think of maybe i can start home schooling early at home.
Thanks for sharing. ^^

I do homeschooling for my girl since she was 6 months old with flashcards program by glenn doman. and after that progress to right brain training as well as montessori teachings. You have to prepare to do lots of reading up as well as teaching materials if you really want to do homeschooling. Alot of determinations and time is needed. I can share with you more if you are keen. Contact me at [email protected]

hi, i am also home schooling my 15 mnth old son. It would be nice to have experienced mothers share their knowledge and insights.

Dear fellow mummies, are you all still homeschooling your child? I have homeschooled my son since baby but now I think he needs some social interaction.. turning 3 in March 2016. Thinking of sending just to a under the block 2 hr smiling stars playgroup and supplement with montessori at home. Any advice?

Hi mummyhugs, my girl is turning 3 this month and thinking of sending her to montessori program but can't make up my mind which one better to send her to. Am still homeschooling her. Currently she is able to do simple addition sums. But like your reason, I also want her to have social interaction. Any luck finding good school for your son?

Hi,
I have just started him with Smiling Stars at Block 521 in Wdl this yr. There's the initial separation anxiety both for him and me but after a week, he settled in and likes going to school.

My first choice would be a good montessori school with outdoor grounds and one that truly adhere to the main principles of montessori such as the freedom of choice of activities, mix age group, open concept where they can move around freely instead of confined in a room and enclosed areas, airy spacious orderly and cleanliness was one of the top things I look for.

However those that I found were way over my budget, sadly. So for now its Smiling stars.

My reason for choosing smiling stars is the location (just 2 blocks from my place), clean environment, bright, friendly and caring teachers, daily Chinese lesson with songs and flashcards. They do brain development related activities-although I feel the word "brain development" is a very over used fancy word. All activities that we do will stinulate both brains especially music and movement. But good thing is that they fact that teachers are train in how the both side of the brain works means they are more conscious on how to futher stimulate the child to exercise both part of their brains. .

Only thing is Tyler kept falling ill. Probably a common thing. Exposing to different viruses and bacteria.

So for now this is our arrangement and I supplement with montessori activiites at home.

We will see if we can transfer him to the montessori I found ( greentree montessori!) Love the place, maybe next year.

Hi KatKat84! My girl just turned 3 this month too.. On 4th Feb :) .. I just started her on a playgroup in Jan as I too wanted her to have social interaction.. So far children in the playgroup are not really interacting with each other.. Maybe it's because of their age :D.. Still looking for a good school to send her too :)

I started my youngest at a really good Montessori kindergarten. He'll be there until he moves on to an International school later part of this year. Tempted to keep him home in the meantime, but he needs to learn to socialise with other kids his age. He is not so good at sharing right now.

Hi mummies, yes I heard about kids being sick after they start school. Quite worried about that too. But I think it's time to go mingle around with kids of their age. Would try to let her take some fishoil or vit (took that when I was a kid too). Hope that help to strengthen her immunity. **finger crossed**

I found a school for my girl ! She's starting her trial class tomorrow. So excited! :) Im sending her to montessori class. It's a small and cozy school with 2:7 teacher student ratio class. It's on a steep side and hopefully it's worth it!

Guess I will be supplementing with some flashcards at home with her.

Yes and like timeforchange mummy, my girl isn't very good at sharing with her baby sister right now. So hopefully after she attend class it would be better.

So tired taking care of both on my own. Realise there isn't much time with the youngest one. Feeling guilty.

Hi hi, hope this thread is still active.
I've been searching for a "true" montessori school for my child for many months but didn't manage to find one.. those good ones were either too costly or far away from my hm. Thought of hm schooling but I've no confident that i could do well. Any one has gd montessori sch to recommend? I'm residing in the north.

Hi have pm you :) the trial class I'm talking about is first step montessori. But in the end didn't send my girl there. I'm also staying in the north and after many searches, there are more childcare centres than 3-4 hours classes. There's are not much options for montessori around here.

there is a few mom bloggers that are local that posted some of their activities they did at home, perhaps you can start from there.
teaching materials wise, maybe you can take a look at www.learningstore.sg . They have things like the base ten set, playmoney, multi link cubes and many more.
readers - maybe you can take a look at edventure books

Do i need to be a trained teacher if i want to do home-schooling? How to setup a curriculum, monitor the progress, get the resources, etc.? Currently my boy (3yo) is attending a half day cc and i'm doing supplementary teaching so i'm not so stress up but if i'm going to do home-schooling, i guess i will need to be knowledgeable and resourceful enough as in what and how to teach, etc., right? Any mummies here do home-schooling and send your child to enrichment school on certain days? E.g. Mon, Wed, Fri home school... Tue and Thur go enrichment school? Appreciate your advice and guidance.

Hello Mommy, I send my girls to 3 hours nursery and teaches them at home for few hours. Wanted to homeschooled them 100% but with an infant it just made things very challenging.
Some other Mommy had also said it takes a lot of determination and definitely hardwork. Sahm is no joke. You can't quit and even when you are feeling under the weather, you may have to bite the bullet and make sure lessons are planned.
You may want to check out my Instagram which I planned activities for my twins.

I hope you may find some inspiration on it and Jiayou!

How do you mummies who homeschool your children arrange for more social interaction for them?

Also, what are the different curriculum out there for homeschooling prechoolers?
