Hi,

My gynae has advised me to go through this test called CVS (Chorionic villus sampling) because I'll be turning 35 in 2 months' time and I'm only due in Dec.

Hoping to get advices from anyone who has gone through it. Is it necessary?

My friend did CVS as she has a genetic issue and there was worries it will pass on to her child. For those who is 35 and above, usually we do Harmony Test instead of CVS. CVS requires taking cells from placenta while HARMONY is just blood test. My friend and I are with the same Gynae.

You may want to seek 2nd opinion on this.

Hi Introvert521,

Thank you for replying.

This is my 2nd child and I have been with this gynae since my first.
He said that 90% of his patients will go for CVS once they turn 35..

A little half-hearted about this... Like I trust that he has my best interest but also like whether should I go for it since it is invasive and carries certain risks to it.
AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *Headache

I would have thought Dr won't recommend invasive until it's very very very necessary...I hope he is not after the money as CVS is about $2000 plus for HARMONY is $950
