New Maint Bill for divorce case

I like to consolidate some views here n throw in my though for the new bill on maintenance for divorce case.

Thus, I welcome yr views n thought. You can also write into government website directly if u prefer. (See my attachment for info)

Here my story :
My ex told the judge he is very sick n cannot find job. But all the while, he had side income n went traveling with his mistress, n refuse to give Maint for my 3 children while he also money to see doctor n get doctors letters citing he had this disease n that illness. I won't be surprised too if he had HIV in future.


Of course, I know there are real cases but I guess it is relatively easy to get medical report fr specialist if they willing to spend the money n create a illness using existing pre-condition.

Worse , since I cannot proof his income as he work in construction industry, there are many accounts transaction can be mulipilated esp in overseas for

developed or developing countries

My problem had been gg on for the past years n since didn't resolve. I guess eventually he will hv a very good ground when the new bill get endorsed.

Can anyone share with me , do u hv similar problem or perspective that this new bill can help mother who stand by her children, trying to support them emotionally and financially.

i do support the new bill..

not all females is good mothers and the child should go to the one who is the better parent.
if men can pay maintenance to women for so many years with women giving reasons they cannot work due to various reasons, i think it is fair that men can use the same reason

perhaps with this new bill, women who are emotionally bitter will stop mis-using women's charter and move on with their lives?

personally i do know women who move on with their lives supporting her kids, rather than fighting or hoping that the man who they despise will pay them maintenance. if the man is anywhere decent, he would gladly pay maintenance for his kids. anyway they are already re-married and happily living with the new family, so i guess is a happy ending for them.

Mimicoco .. How old are your kids? How old ago was ur maintenance? I personally fought a Judge over my maintenance cos I was deem self sufficient by the judge even though every cent I made contributed to the kids n household while my ex fool around. They can legalised anything cos it doesn't affect them personally n published their big name in bold print for all I care...I still will challenge no matter what ... We mothers living our lives for our kids n get slammed by some ppl who who say we are materialistic n self centered .. That I don't take lying down ... Even the judge acceded that arugements are valid. I once saw a teenage pregnant gal with the mum crying in court n another beaten up wife, there was a this wlfe who stood in front of an angry judge who was having a bad hair day with a lot of case backlog n she spoke boldly that her unemployed ex haven't paid her for a yr but was having a jolly good time though, she got a fair judgement in that if he doesn't pay the agreed installment, his next visit is the cell ... U think that will put a big dent on ur ex exclusive travel plans? Feel free to pm me, nobody needs to agree to that stupid new clause, I am aggrieved party n that doest swayed me abit ...I'll fight again if necessary

I have just went to fight for increment of alimony for my gal. I realised that it is really unfair for us ladies as we slog for our lifes to give our kids to have a better life, but on the other hand, he told the mediator that he is married now and has 3 kids. 2 kids dont belongs to him and 1 kid just born. My maintenance is only $100 initially. He earns $6k per month and supporting his parents whom are not working. Both of them are so healthy cum he has two sisters. They are well off, so i know he is not willing to pay more.
2 kids whom dont belongs to him, one of him is falling sick and been going in hospital and out and been staying in Parkway in B class. Do you think he has no money? If a person can stay in B class, it means the person is still able to afford the expenses, or else who dare to go to such high end hospital?
His wife is not working and he needs to support all of them. My maintenance has increased to $300 after being forced by my mediator. I really feel he is a bastard. He can take care of other people kid and not willing to spend a single cent on his own blood child. Sorry for being so rude as whenever i think of his attitude, i am really piss off.
Whenever i asked maintenance, he will shout or scold me. I dont own him a living, but why he is so rude towards me? He dont even bother to visit his gal at all. He can fool around and married anyone he wants, but before he settles down, i think he should use his brain to think carefully before he married and even gave birth.
I think getting maintenace more is difficult and hard, so if you really want to go through it, it is best you represent yourself as a lawyer and dont waste the money on that. If you need some info, you may pm me and i can teach you how to go about it.

@WonderNwonder i think yours is child maintenance. but now the new bill is maintenance for your ex-husband. because currently woman charter only covers woman, and not man. so now the new bill also cover man as well. which means in case the ex-husband cannot work, the ex-wife has to pay him maintenance until he is able to work or re-married.

@mimicoco77 i think it is best to take advice from @WonderNwonder. as she successfully divorce her ex and able to increase the child maintenance by herself. you can know the timeline to get things done and how to get things correctly, rather than beat around the bushes.

my ex cheated on me & during our marriage he didn't pay anything for the household, but i didn't really spiral down the emotional bitter trauma. i even divorce him under irreconcilable differences, didn't take a single cent from him and our house, I even bought over his shares. i'm self sufficient & do not have any financial difficulty, so to me, most important is get rid of him and do not want to have anything to do with him for the rest of my life. i do not care where or who he is, whether he is married or single, as i have completely deleted him away from my life. And now, my current partner (he is also divorcee) loves me alot, cherish me & take good care of me. My family adores him and I'm pregnant with twins now

hopefully whichever road you have chosen. Live happily as you only live once. don't let one fatal mistake bring down your entire life.

Hi all Tks for all the feedback. Yes , I realized it it a long process for Maint hearing... I had 4 for about 5times n still hv no decision. I not very sure whether to continue using my lawyer as he is good but expensive. N yes, I definitely need to consult some of u. Now , my biggest worry is a roof under my children head... My lawyer told me that he trying to fight Maint for me as it does affect my ancillary issue...

He is contesting the divorce too. I heard that someone - his lawyer that he doesn't not hv money n using our flat as mean to pay his lawyer professional fees . Thus, he cannot lose n would not transfer to us, he is fighting to sell it out in the market.

For me, I had 3 young children, I do not hv mean but I m working, being sandwiched, I cannot apply financial aids. N he is playing these dirty stuff .

Not that I wanted the money but it is a saving for my 3 children education fees as I m hand to mouth n I had an old age cancer father to feed. Life very tight n tough, but I embrace through for the sake of my 3 children.

I am glad that true colour of him come out of 20+ years of marriage . I always know he is a playboy but didn't know he plot to kill me.

The whole idea came to light after my daughter counsel drop hint ... Where I found photos of sleeping n nude pictures of PRC, Pinoys together wz him... It

If not, I likely being murdered by him and my former maid. (They poison me indirectly in my food )I may gg to taken another legal action after my divorce . This involve my 11 years old n the school counselor, so I contemplating .... Cos too stressful for her that her dad used her . So, I likely to drop this cos of them beside my lawyer said it gg to cost more.

Maybe life should be simple after the divorce. I like to move on but due to 3 young children need n I am in need of financial assistance ( I wonder why should I ask for society help when my ex is earring 10k per month n law knew he is lie in his affidavit n hearing but cannot prove his real income as he direct his income into overseas Myanmar , Philippines )n most important, no mean to get a new house too for me.


I m just trying to provide emotional need n financial need for my 3 young children... I didn't want them to turn bad when they grow up due to no proper discipline n create a havelock to the society just as their dad did.

I just want justice but I guess our law still hv many room for improvements.

Then again, I am not against on the new bill, I just want it to ensure prudent evidence to show that this man really cannot work , n serious steps being taken on the care of children interest after their roof being take away by the cheating parent.

ya i understand the emotional needs for kids part... because when my friend and her husband having tough times (during separation), her kids' studies from grade A drop to D. their teachers even call and ask my friend whether something happen at home and affect her kids so much. i think partly of this and her husband really turn over a new leaf, so she cancelled the separation and decide to give him another chance.

wonder is it possible to divorce first, then settle the assets later? like @WonderNwonder divorce first then later fight for the maintenance for her kids. at least with your current income you can apply for financial aid or something. in worse case, let him sell the house, and split the earning 50-50? with the money you can buy a 3room flat?

i think we shouldn't rely too much on law being fair because in this world is never 100% fair. we just try and make do whatever we can fight and try to live happily as much as possible. then again, i guess the new bill evidence check for "why man cannot work" will be the same as "why woman cannot work". i guess they are trying to make it fair for both gender because not all mum are good mothers & not all dad are evil fathers.

U Shud get ur maintenance order enforce n after that if he fails payment, he gets locked up

By the way, all the women I meet at family court are self representing as maintenance order is very easy .so y hv lawyer??
