Hi Ladies!

I will be starting Noretistherone this Saturday and the nurses told me to take it for 9 days. I will start my injections 5 days later (11 Dec).

Diet wise, I have been reading about how we should be eating/drinking more longan red date, protein, red bean soup, egg whites and isotonic drinks to prevent OHSS.

However, may I ask at which stage of the IVF cycle should they be introduced in our diet?

I am seeing dr chew and he did tell me that given my weight, I may be at risk for OHSS. I hope to eliminate this risk...

I thought OHSS is due to too many follicles stimulated? Didn't know weight can be a cause too. You're underweight or overweight if u don't mind sharing?

The nurses advise is to take egg whites to prevent OHSS after Occyte retrieval

Hi @Dreamscometrue

I am slightly underweight.

So after egg retrieval, we should take at least 3 egg whites daily? I was wondering if it should be taken before and during the injections to minimize OHSS.

As I am preparing for my IVF cycle, is there any particular diet I should follow to prepare my body for IVF? On some nights, I eat fruits + yoghurt and I'm wondering if such low calorie diet is detrimental to my body.

hi everyone!
im going to start on my 2nd fresh cycle soon and completely lost track on what to eat before ER, after ER and during 2WW.
Can only remember i ate a lot of brazil nuts during my 2WW in 2011 lol!
this is going to be my 2nd fresh cycle cos my 1st one back in 2011, we didnt have any to freeze by day 5.
and we only have 2 good embies to be transferred back, which resulted in my 3 year old boy now.
now im back to nuh for another round of iui but gynae switched from iui to ivf when we met him on monday cos he felt that its better not to waste any time.
so here goes!

good luck to everyone! :)

Actually by looking at the number of follicles will give u an idea whether u have risk of OHSS or not. Eg, if u have 6-7 follicles at each ovary, then the chances of ohss is low..
If u have like 20 over follicles, then u may be at risk of ohss.

Hullo is anyone on 2ww under prof ? I saw a few on friday for the et.. not sure if any of u r here?!

If u are.. all the best dearies!!

Wanted to ask besides crinone gel n progynova there isnt any other supports??

Hmmm.... I dont recall any other supports, except that once bfp, will have progesterone jabs.

Hi I'll be doing my 3rd and probably last IVF fresh with Prof Wong soon. Can anyone share what's the procedure for the long protocol at NUH? My precious IVF was done at SGH. And anyone heard that NUH IVF lab will be closing for reno from Mar to Jul next year?

Never heard of it going to close for Reno but I'm sure that if it does, they will have alternative lab for them. Most probably they going to move to the new building? Cos even for egg retrival now do at the new building's ambulatory day surgery at level 11 instead of basement of kent ridge wing.

I juz seen prof.. Was told that there MAYBE a lab renovation for 10weeks from april to early june IF the renovation budget is approved by the hospital..

Huh.. I juz failed a 2nd fresh n is planning a 3rd fresh.. Already very sianz..now hear this even more sianz..

I not sure lei.. I will ask when i go for post cycle review..
I also sianzz..I went to NUH from SGH coz SGH undergoing reno next Mar to Jul then now NUH also reno

not sure which stage u r now with NUH, but NUH ivf no need to queue like KKH or SGH. once u r ready, then start immediately..
Ah I see..I'm seeing prof next tues for review for my blood tests, will only know after that..hopefully can start in Jan or Feb

How abt u? You are going for fresh cycle soon?

That depends on my blood tests results..hopefully no procedure like endo scratch etc need to be done before IVF.

I'm sure they have an alternative lab otherwise they cannot function and everything and everyone will have to stop whatever we are doing. I have appt with Dr Stephen Chew this Friday, I'll ask him, if I remember

I just did the endo scratch (pipelle biopsy) last Friday. Seems like most people are doing it before Ivf nowadays unlike my first cycle in 2011, there's no need to do such procedures but i read that doing so will help in implantation. Hopefully it works!

U requested to do endo scratch or the doc proposed? Is it a quick procedure?

Hi @Dreamscometrue

I am on day 7 of stimms and today, my scans show that I have 30 follicles!!!

I may be at risk of OHSS and ET might be performed next month but is there anything I can do to minimize or eliminate the risk of OHSS?

I really hope I can do the ET this month.

Hi..been a while on this forum. Surprised to hear about the Reno work..they can't really close right..I mean it's a time sensitive thing..How can they ask us to hold..

Hi, mind sharing how is it done? Which part of the cycle should it be done?

About the lab Reno, prof said that if budget approved, the ivf lab will be closed from end march till June.. So cannot do any ivf during that time. I initially planned to do in apr, so now need to push forward.
There won't be any alternative labs

Wow, how big are your follicles? What's your dosage? I nv had so many.. Max is like 9? Sad..

Didn't request, doc is the one who wanted to do it. Supposed to be a quick procedure but the way to my cervix changed after my csect so I got to do it a few days later but under GA. Was quite fast, done by 15 mins and no pain. Only slight spotting for 2-3 days. I read many people said its quite painful when the doc 'scratched' it, so I'm glad I didn't feel anything since zonked out completely hehe..
