Hello, my friend is about 11 weeks pregnant. She was placed on BP med but doesnt seem to be controlled. (Im on the same med but it works for me) we both have high BP abt 150/90 before pregnancy. She also had cyst in ovaries before and now the gynae she is at (Dr Kee) says he doesn't have the capabilities to treat her if she is still not responding well to the BP med.

He will have to refer her elsewhere. Therefore would like to ask if any of you have the same complications and have good gynae who can handle her case to recommend?

She needs to find one by this week as she is due for oscar coming Monday.

Many thanks in advance for your contribution!!

I would recommend Dr James. His clinic is located at 117, TPY Central, #01-138. (James Lee Urogynaecology). I'm not sure if he's able to handle your friend's case or not. But no harm giving it a try :)

I gave birth to baby Dom on 12/03/2013. Since I was very well prepared and knowing what to expect, the process went on very smoothly. Follow on in the hospital, He check on me everyday until I was discharge and had make sure I was fine and had chat with me about my well being, teaching me on what to expect now given birth, on breast feeding, on baby. Dr James also taught me on breast feeding and what to do to stimulate the breast “factory” to produce more milk! (Just sharing my experience! ️)

Thank you Eggpudding!!

Will need more suggestions esp anyone who knows of a gynae that can handle such conditions!

You may want to consider Dr Ann Tan at Paragon. She specialises in high risk pregnancy. But her charges are known to be steep.

Go to SGH, they have high risk joint ob and cardiac clinic, the cardiologist specialises in cases like that. Call the recept 6321 4596, normally this is answered by nancy the clerk there she is extremely helpful and will guide u on what to do.
In situations like this (i was in it too), cost will run very high.. Best to go call nancy get an urgent appt and meantime get a refereal letter from polyclinic to be subsidised patient.
Once u reach the end of pregnancy, u can still opt to switch to private patient and get to stay in A class ward at an afforable price.
The care there is fantastic because you get a team of doctors to look after you.. If complications arise, even kkh have to transfer patients to SGH.
There are mainly 3 high risk ob doctors, they are all great! Go google sgh ob joint cardiac clinic for more info!
Just fyi, im currently a high risk patient there.

Btw, just to put it out there, i went to kkh early in my pregnancy as a private patient.. Extremely disgusted with the doctor.. She told me straight that i will either have a heart attack during pregnancy or during labour, and if i were to suffer an attack ay kkh, they are not equipped other than to try and ressucitate me. In a way she kinda implied i should reconsider keeping the baby..

Devasted, i found sgh and upon seeing the ob join clinic, the doctors explained my situation again and at no point in time even subtly believe that i will suffer a heart attack through this preegnancy... Im 31 weeks today, all and well!!

Oh gosh gwlee thats terrible!! Good to know u've been in good hands at sgh, thank you for the detailed info!!
