Ad hoc / Last minute nanny

I have been offered a job that allows me to work from home most of the time. But on occasion I may be called to a meeting the day before.

I called five nanny agencies today and none can help to provide a last minute nanny to watch my one year old whilst I go to a meeting.

Does anyone have any contacts?

One year old not so easy to watch. They are still dependent on a particular care-taker. They might cry the whole day while you are at the meeting. So, any responsible, good nanny or maid will tell you cannot. However, your best bet might be a neighbor - a retiree or a stay at home mom, spend time to get to know them, let your girl play in your house, etc... At one point when I didn't have maid I would send my baby "next door", or ask them to come over and spend the afternoon in my house while my baby naps. I had 3 neighbors on the standby to help.
