Hi gals,

I am almost 20 weeks pregnant, i still have not done my anomaly scan which they do to find out physical abnormalities. Its after 2 weeks.
Last Wednesday, I visited my gynae and she just scanned to find out what is the sex of my baby. Then she found that the kidneys are measuring 6mm which is not normal. It should be 5mm. She suspects that this a soft marker for Down Syndrome and we may need to do Amniocentesis or CVS tests to find out for sure. This has left me very worried.

Please share your experiences.
Thanks

hi i m in a similar boat. my bb's risk of Down syndrome is pretty high too. currently waiting for the fetal amomaly scan at 19 weeks which i will do in 1.5 wks time. after that i w probably have to do amnio. did u do the oscar scan or other NIPT tests such as harmony which also tests for probability of DS at the end of ur first tri?

Hi, I was in a similar situation lk u a few mths ago.my 20 weeks scan showed a smaller right kidney and cysts in it. The gynae told me that it was a development thing and nothing can be done at that point.only can monitor and make sure baby has enough aminotic fluid. I did the panaroma tear to rule out down s sydrome and other trisomies. My girl was born at 37 weeks and had a Ultrascan on the first day.it shows that the right kidney is 2.5mm and has a cyst in it and loss of function and the left kidney is 4.5mm and increased echogencity. Got referred to a renal specialist for further tests.other organs looks ok. be comforted Tt if it s only the kidney affected, our kids can live a relatively healthy life, though just go for checks up more often than the rest.
