any 35 and above trying for their first?

Hey mummies-to-be

Just wanted to recommend an app that's very useful to track your cycle. It is call "Ovia Fertility" and free to download on your phone. I've been using it for the past month and you can record things like your BBT, every day moods, feelings (e.g. bloated, sore breasts...) So it's good for us who are TTC-ing. It also calculates your fertility score and estimates your O day.

Anyway besides recommending the app.. I am now at the end of my 2ww. Hoping hard that the Witch (a.k.a. Mdm AF) don't appear! Been taking TCM for the past month and Conceive Well Gold (on days I don't drink the TCM herbs). Also avoided iced drinks most of the time (yeah I slipped on some occasions) and cut down massively on caffeine. Drink hot milo almost every day until wanna vomit le.

Dear All,

Today (18.03.2015 - 4pm onwards) I will be giving some red eggs to Zhu Sheng Liang Liang at Shuang Lin Temple in Toa Payoh. If you are free, probably wanna drop by to pray and take some red eggs for "heng heng".

Good Luck to all.

Hi Ladies,

I have a question... maybe someone can advice and share. Do any one experience pre-period spotting ? Is it due to getting old that why it happen ? Or is it normal.
Period is over due for 2 days. Spotting for the past 5 days. But no sign of BFP. Just that AF dont wan to follow out... BTW i am going 38 this year.... and is still TTC#1.
Very tiring and heartbreak journey that not many people can understand.

Wish me luck and hope it happen soon....

Hi all,
I'm now waiting for my appointment in Apr to see infertility issue (with referral letter to KKH from polyclinic). Could anyone advise what would I be expecting as this should be different to private gynae?
would I be seeing different doctors everytime? As I have done some test with private gynae, I hope that they will not repeat test like HSG again?

Hello Cantabile,
I am 39 years old, i think due to Gov's subsidy, thats why Prof Wong has suggested that we can started with IVF,
I trusted him and i think its very important,
hence i took all the suggestion he has gave to us.

I went to KK hospital many years ago and they had suggested us to try IUI too,
but due to work stress and irregular menses, i have put it on hold.

All the best to you too and yeah, you are right, all of us need to jia you together :)

Hi happybb2015,

I saw that you have been to KKH and now at NUH, will be going for IVF? As i'm now waiting for my appointment in Apr, I visited polyclinic and got a referral but was thinking to go KKH or NUH. Is it due to location reasons that you decided to go to NUH? Am still thinking if I should switch to NUH. Thanks!

Where do u stay? I'm with NUH too and I like it there. Nurses are nice, queues are pretty fast

Hihi,
I am new here and very sad today hence browsing around and find this thread. Coming 39 this year have one lovely girl 3 years old. Been ttc to have 2nd one since last year. Got it but failed pregnancy as bb din grow and dun hv heartbeat. Do d&c on sept and now i pregnant again with the same condition as previous one. Last menses on feb and march got light stain for one time then menses din come till now. Tested twice negatif and tested again after 2wks positif. Saw gynae this morning as got brown discharged last nite. But the news broke me down and i cried so much. Gynae said only can see very small sac and saw frm my last cycle should not be in this condition. Is not a good sign of pregnancy. Gv me a hormones short n ask to come back next wed. What happened here mummies. Why 2x i can conceived but yet is like that?
Any good gynae to recommend so i can ask and check my condition??
Really sad that is happened like this, i really pray and hope God can give miracle and the foetus will grow when my next appointment.
Any mommy encounter 2x failed pregnancy n need to do d&c??

Hi. In 2012 I was tested bfp in Aug and Dec. Both pregnancies were not viable. Aug one I did D&C. The Dec one I passed out the sac naturally.

Are you seeing TCM?

Hi, I am hitting 39 years old this year. Trying to have a baby for the first time. I think I am on the malnourished side as I am really thin and frail looking. Will this affect the baby or can I even conceive? Where should I start ? I always have painful intercourse with my hubby that I will 'call it a day' everytime we tried, as it is so uncomfortable. I am in a dilemma whether I should even try again but the other side of me hope to have a healthy baby to play with.

Since you know where your problem lies, you may want to consider seeing a dietician and maybe TCM. Everyone has our own issues and if after trying for many months with no success, it's time to seek alternative help.

I am staying at North of Singapore. Not comvenient for me to travel to NUH. Agreed to Chloe, nurses are friendly and nice, i love the system there too

Hihi. I didn't get bfp after that. So it has been over 2 years I get kosong. But I've just seen Tan Siew Buoy for the first time last week. Started on her medicine (both me and hubby) but now have to put on hold as I have fallen sick (bad flu) and I called up her clinic and was adviced to stop the herbs first. Wait till I recover then resume.

Can't say much about her since it has been just a week. Maybe you can goggle about her and there will be mixed reviews. But she is very famous (or infamous depends what you read haha) so the waiting time for your first appt is typically 2-3months.

@franch Congrats! It is really hard not to focus on making babies instead of making love.

Mood feeling a bit low today. My friend who is same age as me (37) just got pregnant (married less than 6 months), whereas I am married 4 years and no news. Handling infertility is really difficult. During CNY my FIL hinted strongly again why we not having kids. I told HB to tell his parents we have been trying, so they can get off our backs. Idk whether the news actually got into my FIL's head or not. Makes me feel lousy sometimes to see my HB's cousins have 1-2 kids (they married later than us).

Sometimes also feel angry with HB because he is so laid back about ttc... lately he is getting better but the previous years, he is so half-hearted and we wasted so much time.

Sorry for ranting... I really need to stay positive because a positive mindset will be better for conceiving!

Hi Catinthesky,

Can u/stand your frustration, my hb totally is so not into 'tiao' his body to good shape, super stubborn insisting he's healthy, sometimes I really ask myself should I give up the thought cos no point only me trying my best to 'tiao' body to gd shape while your other half gave u the impression of I can't be bothered attitude. My bro who's married not even a year had a daughter recently, that kind of envious really is beyond words to describe. But I believe being relax and not pressurised also plays a very important part, a fren who's childless for quite number of years, recently was pregnant, she shared cos felt their age catching up so might as well try again, and then bingo, she strike. So have to keep a relaxed, no pressure mindset, though said is easier than done but we just have to keep trying.

Hello ladies, I am 38 this year.
Would like to check if you ladies can share your fertility specialists with me as the ones that I have seen for the past years didn't manage to help me succeed and I keep going on circle. Very lost :(

Hi, I used to find intercourse painful in the beginning. But it helps if you both have sufficient foreplay. Try also on those days near ovulation when you tend to get wetter. Can also try sperm-friendly lubricants. Learn to enjoy the process. Do what turns you on ie rated shows or roleplays. Hubby must coorperate ie gentler or time his release. Good to achieve healthy weight and a less stressful lifestyle (ie no OT, no night classes) first. All the best!

Hi bananas, I am also 38 n today I gotten my bfp. I am with nuh prof Wong and under him tried clomid a few cycles failed. Then 1 failed IUI then I went on to ivf. As he not around in May, my relief dr is dr Anu who did my er and et. Perhaps you can give a call to them and see if you like their environment, their nurses and the tending doctor. All the best to you, baby dusts...

Is there any hope in conceiving with AFC low? Hope to find some encouragement & hope here...
Hi sadbee, how low is low? Doctors can use stims to grow them, so don't despair, they will adjust the dosage according to individual reactions. I actually needed a lot of injections to stimulate follicle growth.. Good luck to u

Hi Bananas,

Perhaps you can try Prof Ng Soon Chye from O & G partners women clinic at Gleneagles hospital. He started off as my fertility doc & now he is my OB. He's really experienced and very professional at providing us with fertility advice, I feel assured being taken care by him. Highly recommended!

Talbjas, prof ng did delivery for u? I manage to conceive the first time I see him last yr, but he oni see me thru first trim. Thereafter, I switch to kkh as he said not doing delivery anymore

Hi lynx_sea,

I got thank you for your detailed outline of your IUI journey, My friends actually gave me a few fertility doctor and I wasn't sure which 1 to go to, but after reading your post, I decided on Prof Ng.

I haven't reached the stage of delivery, still in my first trimester :) He didn't mention anything about delivery tho'. Now that you mentioned this, perhaps I will check with him during my next visit.

Wow, congratulations!!! I am so glad tat I haf indirectly helped u decide on him. Btw, u seeing him at novena or Gleneagles clinic?
I was seeing him at novena. As he doesn't do delivery and I prefer a male obstetrician, I switch over to kkh. Partly near my hse, another resson cos of my age. In case of complications, I feel safer with kkh

Hi everyone, im 37 this year, married late at 36. Have been TTC since we got married but no luck. Was refered to Doc Vanaja at Jurong Women's clinic who later refered me to NUH Doc Anu Priya. So far i've been only getting bad experiences at NUH women clinic at front counter as well as from Doc Anu. Doc Anu doesnt say much and i always end up checking with nurses. She also doesnt give you eye contact and is so fast in her speech that i've started to record our conversations so that i can go back and listen. Today is my 3rd cycle of clomid, 100mg. Also found out that i have 1 block tube. Anyone so far have been successful with 1 working tube? Its frustrating to see period after each month trying.

My husbands SA is bad news too, with quality, motality very low. He's been given supplements and vitamins for 3 months. Im suppose to go for my Day 12 scan this fri morning since they dont work on sat at NUH. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope all those clomide, Vit D, folic acids work and make my follicles mature enough.

There are many supplements on market, not all can delivered. Please sistas.., really really must take Ageloc R2 for both husband & wife.. Already have more than 1 couple benefited and grant their wish. I hope more sistas here can have your wish come true.

Why not change dr since your current one is no good? TTC is a stressful journey on its own. So I think it's better if you switch to another gynae or hospital where you will be more comfortable with.

I've a friend who got pregnant naturally with one tube. So don't lose hope.

I'm 35 and ttc-ing too. Have been trying for 6 years. Went for IUI a few years back and doing IVF now. It is frustrating but just go with the flow. My husband always tell me this - Hope for the best and expect the worst.

Good luck in your ttc! :)

Thanks for replying Spinsterella. Where are you having your treatment? All the best to you and wish you a success IVF. You will hold your baby in yr arms soon. Lots of baby dust to you.

Just wanted to add DH and i did the baby dance on the 2 days that my ovulation calendar showed im the most fertile. After that two days, i had some brown spotting (sorry for tmi) that lasted for 1 day. Not sure if im still ovulating or its something i shd worry abt. Anyone out there had similar experience, where you start to have mild brown spotting after intercourse during ovulation?

Consider changing to dr stephen ? I heard from forum he is not bad.

Else another famous 1 at nuh will be professor

Ya maybe i should, thought i shd at least go through one IUI with Dr Anu before i consider changing doc. Thanks Connie_hopeful. How is yr journey coming along? I can make do listening to some motivation stories for now to overcome sadness and some uncertainty.

Hi my journey is at same stage, trying to climb to motherhood. I failed 2 ivf cycles. Currently resting n trying natural, hopefully miracle will exist. :) all e best to u :)

ya i read a few success stories here that says after they stop trying too hard, they manage to get pregnant naturally. I've got a colleague who mentioned that her husband's SA is very very weak and they tried IVF for the first time and was successful. She was age 39 when she was pregnant. I looking forward to more success stories so that i can be more positive. Sometime though i tell myself not to be hard, its tough when you come across relatives who day in day out ask the same question. And also when you reach home and find that there's something lacking at home. Thats when my mind starts to wonder.

Thank you Wanbaby. I'm with Raffles Hospital currently. I switched gynaes recently also because the previous one, though good, was taking things a bit too slow. Wish you all the best too! Don't lose hope. Don't care about others questioning you etc. Just relax and go with the flow. :) If you feel you have free time then do activities together or pick up a new hobby. :) Go travelling! Fill your time and enjoy.

Can try those Chinese physician and take their medication to improve and strengthen your health. I find it quite reliable or do IVF however it will be a very painful and difficult process.
