Hello Cantabile,
I am 39 years old, i think due to Gov's subsidy, thats why Prof Wong has suggested that we can started with IVF,
I trusted him and i think its very important,
hence i took all the suggestion he has gave to us.

I went to KK hospital many years ago and they had suggested us to try IUI too,
but due to work stress and irregular menses, i have put it on hold.

All the best to you too and yeah, you are right, all of us need to jia you together :)

I m a newbie, just hit 35 this year & ttc for recent 1+yr. I've done iui 5x wo any success (well now waiting for the results of 5th iui which i din feel hopeful). Also did a hsg test n my fallopian tube is fine....now am really tired n wondering to move to next step of ivf. Btw i just starting tcm this jan 2015 N had a iui after starting brewing tcm. am abit fearful whats next?? Anyone has experience to share on ivf?? My iui were on clomid wo injection but i know for ivf..need to self inject..am trying anything possible to conceive n hopefully i dont hv to move to ivf

Hello look4hope,
I have started IVF journey, today is my 4th injections.
So far, self injection was went well for me, i think courage and the determination to get conceive will drive you face all the challenges.

Of course, still trust your gynae for the suggestions, i have read quite a bit and realise that every individual will have received diff treatment,
base on our body condition, the gynae will give the best solution for us to get conceive.
Jia you and all the best :)

Hi kitty...we did thorough test before. For me, my uterus is retroverted so that may make it harder? My hubby sperm resultnot good either n is now seeing specialist..

Hi ladies,

Just wondering if there is any food to take or to avoid during the 2ww? During this festive season, I ate some yu-sheng and raw salmon without realizing. Was wondering if food will have impact to implementation?

Wow, I can see that this thread started more than a year ago and I was one of the early contributors. Sad to say, HB and I were caught up with other stuff (he kept falling sick, etc) and we didn't focus on TTC. Now we are back on the ball game... we started seeing a TCM again. Hoping to conceive this year.

Lately also no mood to do enough homework. Planning for trips this month and the next. And work is also piling up.

2 months gone in a year as I am counting!

That's nice enjoy the trips k.. Missed some of the stuff there ...

No need to remember lah... Cos in life, there are simply too many things which need our attentions. Being on ART, is just part of my life chapters. ;p

Hi ladies, need your advise/recommendations on what the kinds of multivitamins to be taken for ttc. I currently taking GNC Women's Prenatal Formula (Blue in colour), Folic Acid 5mcg, GNC GoldMinds™ DHA 200 and GNC Calcimate Plus™ 800. I thinking to change to other brands. Am 39 this year, trying to conceive for almost 2 years. Have very irregular menses, and decided to embark with IVY journey in NUH only this year. Supposed to fix my first IVF appointment on 20 March 2015, but due to my menses delay, it has to be deferred to maybe April/May period. Doctor prescribed me with strong medicine called marvelon to induce menses to come. Took duphaston before in January 2015 to induce my menses to come and menses did come on 20 Jan 2015. Have recently diagnosed with PCOS. Will also be going for hysteroscopy to remove one tiny pimple. Supposed to fixed on 25 February for hysteroscopy, but due to menses delay, have to postpone the treatment. Am currently waiting for my menses to come before to proceed with the hysteroscopy and IVF procedure. Ladies, have you had these kinds of problems I am facing right now?

I saw your same post a few thread. Supplements I don't believe in helping egg quality just take in moderation. Too much is no good. Pcos is very common and ivf works well for pcos because U have many eggs but there is a risk of ohss.

Hello elsieho,
Who is your gynae at NUH?
I took supplements too, to be safe i brought my supplements to let me gynae have a look, in the end, he told me to stop one. Hence, the best is to consult your gynae if you are suitable to take those supplements.
I have irregular menses too....you are not alone and i know how hard it is and even more difficult for us compare to those have regular menses. However, never give up. One day, your menses will come.
be positive and meanwhile eat high protein food, i was told by CHR nurses to have high protein diet, egg white if good and easy to prepare at home, fish, beef and pork etc...
Stay positive and happy

Thanks babe, I got referral ltr from Polyclinic to go NUH to save costs. The doctors not fixed one, as they are randomly selected. May I ask what supplements you are currently taking. I am eating more protein foods (eg. egg white, salmon, green vegs). But somehow I do feel my body lacking of nutrition intakes and also worry that popping too much pills may cause toxic/side effects.

@elsieho
Oic, i think you can bring your supplements to your gynae, although not fixed but i am sure they will able to provide advice to you.
I am taking some essential such as Vit E and Vit C, folic acid was prescribed by my gynae, i took chinese medicine + acupuncture, i took manuka honey + propolis everyday before ER. I am trying to cut down on pill intake after ER and let my body taking a break. If you can, visit TCM to "tiao" your body.
Food intake, i trust eat moderate, eat well and balancing diet is best for me.

Hi,just to inform tcm doesnt work for everybody. We took for 6 mths. It seems to make my hubby and my condition worse after check like sa,follicle count etc.

sa n follicle count came back normal state after we stop taking tcm for 2 mths

So i will think e best medicine is to keep happy and relax

If realli want to take tcm, do a check 4 to 6 mths down e road to see if it helps u

Hi all, been a while since i posted in this thread. Hope everyone is doing fine!

After my unsucessful iui (HCG dropped) in Nov, I decided to take a break from actively trying for a child, after speaking to Dr Tan Heng Hao from KKH in Dec. So we took things easy in Jan n just continued praying to our God. I told my husband that I wanted us to add passion back to the bedroom hahahah :D n focus on "us" again instead of just routinely BD-ing for the sake of conceiving.

Today, i'm very blessed to say that i'm 2+ months pregnant. Looks like Jan worked out well for us! Saw the bb n heard the heartbeat today on the ultrasound. I guess taking it easy and not having any pressure worked. :) Also, Dr Tan gave us a very different schedule for BD-ing. He said it is best to BD every alternate day from day 8 to 20, rather than focus on just the ovulation window cos no one knows for sure when the exact ovulation is.

Anw, I pray for all of you to get your bb blessing soon. Try to take it easy n don't pressurize yourselves. Don't give up! Jia you! :)

Congrats franch. Take good care and rest more.

This should be the motto everyone lives by... enjoy every moment with our other half and take each day as it comes. TTC is just one minor activity of our life.

@franch Congrats! It is really hard not to focus on making babies instead of making love.

Mood feeling a bit low today. My friend who is same age as me (37) just got pregnant (married less than 6 months), whereas I am married 4 years and no news. Handling infertility is really difficult. During CNY my FIL hinted strongly again why we not having kids. I told HB to tell his parents we have been trying, so they can get off our backs. Idk whether the news actually got into my FIL's head or not. Makes me feel lousy sometimes to see my HB's cousins have 1-2 kids (they married later than us).

Sometimes also feel angry with HB because he is so laid back about ttc... lately he is getting better but the previous years, he is so half-hearted and we wasted so much time.

Sorry for ranting... I really need to stay positive because a positive mindset will be better for conceiving!

It is really tough. Same here and many of the sisters here as well.
Have you tried iui or ivf?

Hi kerqing,

How's the ivf process? Is it draining? And, is your case classified as unexplained infertility hence went for IVF?

Hi kerqing,

I went for ivf when im 33 and 34.
Super draining. Need to go hospital every other day. Hospitaliation leave for 2 wks etc.
Is not unexplained infertility.
Tried TCM also but end up I had high fever for 5days. Too heaty and i dare not try again.

Doc classified our case as unexplained infertility and suggested IVF since we had failed tries with IUI.

I have been trying for a few years. Very painful ride and I feel so jaded. But I know we are here for each other so let's hang in there..

Must have supportive bosses as well. Else it might affect work.

More concern about the physical and mental part. As for financial wise, we don't need to top up much cash due to govt grant right?

Boss must understand. Meaning u need to explain fully to the boss.
At time u just want to keep to yourself but ppl that care for you will worry for u keep asking how are u etc.

There is alot of stuff u might want to buy and eat to boost ur chances to get a bfp. So depend how much u willing to spend.
I tried both at kkh. Which I think if u have better financial dont go there. Go to private hsp and do.

What to buy and eat to increase the chances? Why do you think private hosp is better? I am with NUH.

Lots of egg whites, protein powder, go tcm for zhen jiu.

Govt hsp they dont work on sat and sun. So they will at times do extraction and transfer 1 day early or 1 day later. It will put extra stress on us. Tend to worry alot.
Imagine fri did extraction total 17eggs By right transfering shld be done on sun but due to they dont work on sun. They do transfer on mon end up lesser embryo survive for the transfer. Heartache leh.

Oh. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't know that. (I remembered asking them about weekends.)

How many embryo did you transfer?

First timer cannot put more than 2. 2nd timer and beyond can put more than 2 AND if you're of a certain min age (I think 37? Sorry can't remember the facts).

That was what I tot. I don't mind twins but doc say will have higher risk of complication. Maybe advise to put 1 for first try.
