40 and above pregnant club

i think it has nothing to do with the fair organiser but the company selling it....
anyway, it is better to check out prices before we purchase anything...we tend to be impulsive esp at these kind of fairs.

Whether it is the organizers or products people does not matter. Well, they did advertise up to how many % disct off? Was it 50%, 60% ?

Think different companies have different offers. So happened via Taka they give better disct this time I guess. Impulsiveness? Think you shud speak for yourself perhaps, not others when you dun hv the full story..

oh dear, please don't get offended as I am just talking in general esp women who do buy on impulse myself included. Don't need to take it too personally yah ;D

Erm usually I just like to be clear abt I'm saying. I hope you are not offended abt me pointing out your false and inaccurate presumptions. That's all. :)

Even during pregnancy, if your BP reading is higher than 140/80, you need to be on meds.
This is due to increased risk of pre-eclampsia, which is a dangerous condition for both mother and child.

I have hypertension before preg. Now i am week 22, have to see Obstetric Medical Disorder doctor to monitor and managed my hypertension. The doctor change my hypertension meds and it is well under controlled.
By ignoring the high readings and being worried about it affecting your pregnancy will not help the situation.
Didnt your gynae refer you for further management?

I am feeling heaty and tightness at the chest.
Was so stressed out at work that I flared up.
Now I feel so guilty towards my bb. :(

I do not know how much longer I can take this.

Hi ladies, I'm 40 and just found out that I'm pregnant. I'm wondering is there any good gynae that sees high risk pregnancy women? Any recommendations are welcome as I'm really lost at which gynae to go to. Thanks!

IMHO any gynae are ok to handle above 40 pregnancy ...unless you have some pre-existing condition

i got pregnant at 40 .. and i went to a normal gynae ...gave birth last dec ...

Thanks Irene! Is there a support group I can join?
Now my main concern is how to "survive" thru 1st trimmester. Anything can happen.....

Hi all!

was registered under a different account but was inactive and forgotten my password.
Im turning 42 in Aug, just tested positive with a home test kit. LMD was 1Apr and im probably on my 5th week / edd 6Jan2016? Havent seen gynae cos I reckon it be too early. This is going to be my 3rd, and of cos... unplanned...

Congrats Dorodada, you must be overjoyed with the test result. :)
thank you :) thou a little confuse now and wonder if my body can cope. Cos had a miscarriage in between no.1 & no.2 cos didn't heed advise to bed rest. no.2 managed to stabilise with weekly jab + bed rest. *pray*

Everything will b fine..... Listen to your body and doc.......

We compromise in allowing him 2 rent a wheelchair for 2 weeks n i wld sit in my wheelchair while i m at wk. My staff has d fun of pushing me arnd... buying lunch 4 me....

Happy for u..... ;)

Mine in march..but I'm going for elective csection..don't want to torture this old body some more by going for natural lols..
Hi there, on which week of your pregnancy are u going for elective c-section? My Gynae proposes to me to go for elective C-section on the grounds that she doesn't want to take risks for a natural delivery for herself ( bec her silly insurance premium has increased ) and also don't want to take risks for me bec of my age, although my pregnancy is perfectly ok. If I really want to try natural, she asks me to go look for another Gynae. Is 38th week good enough for a elective c-section? she said full term Liao. But I thot of delaying it but longer by a few days or it doesn't make any diff at all?

Thanks for the explanation. Now I know what test my gynae is talking about. So is the harmony and amino acid test... So for my case, I should go for harmony test first (result only back in 2 to 3 weeks time) before deciding what other test to go for. By the way, what is OSCAR test then? Any idea?

Hi Jastan,
My #1 is emergency c-section, my #2 is natural with assisted delivery and now I am having my #3 EDD due in early July but might be opting for an elective c-section on the reasons which I have mentioned in my previous post.
I chose to do a Harmony Test in my 20th week (I think). Cost me about 1.2k or so. Results are pretty accurate in terms of Bb gender. This Harmony test is good enough. Amniotic test is too invasive for me and my precious. :)

Thanks very much for your well wishes.
I had to visit the KKH A&E few days ago due to blood mucus discharge.
It was my first time having to go in for such emergency. Was very scary and nerve wreaking.
Was given a shot and oral meds for 2 weeks.
Next week will be going in for the tests, scan, etc. More stressful weeks to come waiting for results.
Hope everything is well for u. Take care!

Hi ! Did u give birth natural or c-section? This is your no. what bb?

I'm 43. Married late. Been TTC, still no news. Now suffering from UTI. Anyone has UTI during early pregnancy? Doctor prescribed antibiotics that's pregnancy safe just in case.... Period should be around the corner. Keeping fingers crossed.

Hi vivitan1506, i was seeing Alex Ooi from Mt E for both boys.. just heard that he did not renew his insurance (so sad) so my sil recommend me to try hers at kembangan. Not certain if i'll take the harmony test thou .. i had my 2nd one at 36 and didnt do any test as gynae said its not necessary for me as 1) the scan (width of neck) is normal 2) family health history fine 3) highrisk for miscarriage.

Congrats to u!

Honestly speaking, gals are more caring, especially when they grow up, they still have a place for their parents in their heart. - during courting , my hubby stays at my house, my bro stayed at my SIL house too hehehehehe

Hi Dorodada,

I had my 2nd at 35 and I never take any tests too. However, I have history of early delivery, 1st girl at 37weeks and 2nd girl at 34weeks. I was hospitalised at 32weeks and stayed till delivery at 34weeks :(

My both were early too, 37 & 36 weeks respectively. For the 2nd one induced as he was too big due to GD discovered at 35th week .. he was already 3.9kg in my tummy then!

Hi natto, I'm also 42 expecting my first. Was considering Dr Ann Tan as I heard she specialises in high risk pregnancy. Mind sharing why are you considering the switch?

Hi Mabebb, congrats! I have been seeing Dr Ann Tan for a while. I had two surgeries done by her at Mt E. Therefore once I confirmed my pregnancy I went straight to her. I find her charges very ex and she only delivers at Mt E. I am still considering till my next appt comes.

Congrats all who're expecting. Not sure if this is the right thread to post. I'm in a dilemma now...

Am 42 this year and was expecting our #5 baby (we've got 3 lovely kids). I miscarried #4 in 2012 at 39 years, and now in May, we were diagnosed with a Blighted Ovum case. So started miscarrying naturally 2 weeks ago. Was 9 weeks along then.

Current gynae at Parkway East super "kancheong"...wants to do D&C on me a week later after 8 weeks. I refused a D&C. Then, she gave me Cytotec a few days after miscarriage started to help me cramp and bleed more. I didn't take the Cytotec after reading horror stories online in the US after the side effects of the medication. But she at least gave antibiotics too so that I don't get infected.

Saw a 2nd gyane at Thomson Medical. She seems "can't be bothered'. To her, I can "just bleed naturally, no need D&C, no need medicine, just see her after 1 week after bleeeding". I saw her in 2012 when I miscarried the 4th pregnancy too. To her, I'm "too old" to be expecting so "eggs" are not quality ones at all. She's just so...well, indescribably unempathetic.

Now, am still bleeding but this got heavier these past 2 days.

Any idea if I should see a 3rd gynae for another opinion? Esp one who has experiences with miscarriages?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Wong, I don't know what can I say. I know nothing I say will make it any easier. I've been through a few miscarriages and one of them is blighted ovum.

I was diagnosed at week 6-7 when gynae could not find the sac. Gave it another week before doing D&C. Spotting had already started for a week and gynae was worried that there will be infection if body does not expelled it. I requested for a high resolution scan one last time before D&C but results were the same. Gynae explained that this is how the body naturally clears non viable pregnancy. I saw 3 gynaes and all said more or less the same thing.

I can only share my experience though it's nothing pleasant. Be strong.

Hi Maybebb,

Thank you...No problem. Am past the sadness stage...was a bit taken aback at a 2nd miscarriage..

Only dreading to see her this week to get scolding for not doing D&C and not taking the Cytotec.

DH says to stick w her for this case. He thinks no point going to new gynaes, even the past ones I saw who delivered the kids. He said let her close the case and coz of my age - over 40 - I am considered "high risk". Will see what happens after I see her this week.

Learning point: choose a good gynae from beginning. Pregnancies can have lots of unexpected outcomes. Thanks!

I had few miscarriages, all unexplained. I can understand the frustration and helplessness. Some gynaes are just more blunt. One gynae I went to kept pushing me for a decision. This gynae is widely popular in this forum but my experience with her is not as pleasant.

Depending on the pregnancy and your body, it may self miscarried. I only did D&C once, the other mc Dr suggests letting it go on its own which I did.

Hi Maybebb, Do you mind sharing who she is? Dr Ann Tan? I honestly thought of seeking 2nd opinion from her but she being at Paragon Medical put me off. Dislike the parking there...and having to go to Mount E for any procedures. Haha!

So I choose based on where they're located too.

Its a female dr at Serangoon central.

I've not seen Dr Ann Tan. But I'm actually considering her for my current pregnancy. She came highly recommended. But of course her charges are known to be really steep. I also dislike the parking at mt e.

Hi All, I am 43 this year. Just received my harmony Test result... all good, low risk and I am so happy.... finally can release my mind now.

Gender is girl :)

As I have already got 2 other girls. Kind of worry and pressure that it is "another girl again" from family, especially from MIL but this is not something I can control.
