SO-IUI or IVF? pls advise

Hi Lynelyn,

Not sure if this will help with your decision making, but in terms of timeframe for your leave planning, you might want to check with your doctor what his policy is towards multiple IVF cycles. For my KKH doctor, I had to take a two-month break between (fresh) cycles. Whereas for IUI/SO-IUI, you might be able to try in consecutive months. In the end, I conceived using 'natural' IVF (I gather it's not often done in Singapore, but you can Google it) which allows for IVF in consecutive months. Take care!

No harm giving SOIUI a try because through iui dr more or less know your respond towards stimulation drug n even if fail they can adjust the dosage accordingly for your ivf cycle.

Yes success is lower for iui however this do not mean there are no success cases. I have known ladies who strike twins n triplets with iui.

You can use medisave in pte hospital but not govt grant. Anyway be it IUI or ivf please do it with a fertility dr.

Hi lynelyn, how is ur soiui? I hope it is successful. I going through the same stage with you. Taking injections and going for scan next monday at kk hospital. I.have pcos too. TTC for almost two years. Three rounds clomid no success. I also thinking ivf maybe better choice than iui as pcos patient tends to have many follicles. I thinking just one cycle soiui n then ivf. Cos i do not want waste too much time. I am 33. Can share with me how is ur soiui doing so far if you do not mind. Thanks.

Hi Catherine, pm-ed u! :)

Tried so-iui too after 2 years of trying natural. I have a medical condition and my hub's troops are no good.First time I did strike with twins, but one twin went through a diminishing twin syndrome. The other one now is 4 plus. Was about 30 when I did so-Iui. Subsequently did 3 times so-Iui as well. The 3rd one strike again but had a chemical pregnancy. My previous fertility specialist suggested I do ivf since I failed 3 times. Went to thomson to find another fertility specialist and he suggested that I can try so-Iui again since I did managed to strike. Now the whole ttc plan is on hold :). The first so-Iui I did we claim Medisave :) I did it at a private hospital. Hope this helps :)

I did ivf straight cuz my fertility doc felt chances of me getting preggy via iui is very low
And i got preggy at my 1st fresh cycle
LO is 8.5mo now
Thinking of going for another ivf for #2
