Its not popular here in Singapore, though it has numerous benefits.

My neice learnt it before she could talk and was able to communicate verbally. For eg, she could tell her she wanted milk. It was very cute.

No, my sis just let my neice watch the sign language video and go through with her. Kinda of teaching her along the way and after watching.

I learnt it from the net and taught my girl. she knows how to express herself way before she talks. I find this alot better and beneficial than using baby language.
