Hi caylea,
From my personal experience, I would advise u take the cost base on the worst scenario, ie. C sect. This is bcos no matter how u plan, u never know what will really happens! N At that point of time, making sure baby comes out safely is all that matters. Like u, I was aiming to do normal deliver without epidural but my girl has other plans in mind. :s n by then, it's most likely too late to make any changes to yr choice of room. If I didn't remember wrongly, you can upgrade but cannot downgrade. Once you check in on that fateful day, yr room will b confirmed before u even finish yr labour. If it turns out to b c-sect (touch wood), the cost will be different fr what u have in mind if u plan with normal delivery.
As for whether its worth to pay the diff for a single rm, u have to ask yourself if u need the single room. For me, i wanted privacy n also for my hushand to stay over. I wanted to rest comfortably esp after going through one of the most important stage of my life for the first time. I did think of taking a double room n pray hard that the noone takes the other bed. But what if, there is someone? Is it ok? It wasn't for me, at least not for the first time. And being a first time mum, I really don't know what to expect then. So i wasnt going to leave it to chances n live to regret it. So it's definitely a single. And I was glad that I chose the single rm. After going thru more than 12 hours of delivery, fr trying to have a normal delivery n ending with a emergency C section, I simply have no energy left to deal with other considerations that come along with sharing a room for 3 nights. More importantly, I was glad that my husband could stay with me n we both go thru the experience together [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
thus for me, it's def worth it. Hope this helps [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]
