(2004/09) Year End (Sep - Dec) 2004 Mothers-to-be

Hi, my child does not seem to like to go to school. She's now in K1. She keeps crying whenever she reaches school and sometimes even all the way to school. I have tried to ask her many times the reason why she does not want to go but always do not get a proper answer from her.

lately i really dont know why am i so short tempered......so impatient.....everything seems to get on my nerves!!! then i visit hubby's school *old boys* site and saw this and some seems to moved my heart...

A Child's Ten Commandments to Parents
Author: Unknown

* My hands are small; please don't expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball.

* My legs are short; please slow down so that I can keep up with you.

* My eyes have not seen the world as yours have; please let me explore safely. Don't restrict me unnecessarily.

* Housework will always be there. I'm only little for a short time, please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world and do so willingly.

*My feelings are tender; please be sensitive to my needs. Don't nag me all day long. Treat me as you would like to be treated.

* I am a special gift from God; please treasure me as God intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a
loving manner.

*I need your encouragement to grow. Please go easy on the criticism; remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.

*Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail, so that I can learn from my mistakes.

* Then someday I'll be prepared to make the kinds of
decisions that life requires of me.

*Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite measure up to your expectations.

*Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it's a great way to show us kids
that your marriage is very special.

*Please take me to church regularly, setting a good example for me to follow. I enjoy learning more about God.

UMMM..... the last one very IMO though...heee........

Hi

Would you let your 5 year old learn drums? My son is pestering me.... I fear that I will never get any rest/peace. What are your opionions?

Gabby,
hmm if u have the space and the noise tolerance, why not? Mine learning piano and it's maybe half the space compared to a full drum set, so if space not an issue. In terms of noise, both piano and drum practice sounds equally bad in the beginning, I guess?!

Drum lessons are pretty expensive though. My 5yo's ex-piano teacher's 5yo boy is learning drums and seems to be happy

Violin

Because you can carry a violin anywhere in the world on a plane

a beginner violin is very cheap. you can buy a better one when your son is really interested

Drum set takes up more space too.

someone posted this lovely anonymous poem and I thought I should share

"A child is like a butterfly in the wind.
Some can fly higher than others;
But each one flies the best it can.
Why compare one against the other?
Each one is different.
Each one is special.
Each one is beautiful."
